POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@myceliahouse prototype in the wild

This was back in February when @luke_reid98 and I celebrated 10 years together with a stay at an @unyoked.co cabin.

BTS: I accidentally glazed an entire batch of designs in white instead of clear because I didn’t read the label properly. I only realised much later… after sending @vickigrima on a goose chase trying to work out what had happened 🙃 Ceramics is humbling in the best way.

@myceliahouse is ceramic 3d printed and slip cast, designed for growing mushrooms at home 👾

Permaculture at the Pub - April 2026!

Another great turn out! We welcomed a bunch of new attendees like @sydneyediblegardentrail Hurstville community garden host @gemsmasami and we welcomed back @angelstreetcommunitygarden , @seldear , @patchtoplateliving

Shout out to @permiehub for coming through all the way from the Hunter region! Absolutely love catching up with you guys and really looking forward to your presentation at @permaculture_sydney_south May 12th from 7pm! For more details please check out the PSS website!

We also had a special guest with us - Industrial designer and mycology enthusiast @c_duffus from @myceliahouse - Mycelia House is a cultivation system for growing and showcasing the beauty of oyster mushrooms in the home.

The design promotes a move towards more sustainable and localised food practices, an appreciation of the fungi kingdom, and a deeper connection with nature.

If you haven't checked out the INCREDIBLE ceramic 3D printed Mycelia house before - you NEED to check it out. It is a beautiful piece of functional art! Caity was successful in gaining entry into the Carl Nielsen Design Accelerator program run by the @powerhousemuseum

The Carl Nielsen Design Accelerator is one of the many ways Powerhouse is seeking to embed sustainability in programs, exhibitions, and education in support of the Powerhouse Climate Action Plan.

Thank you for coming everyone! 🍄🏠 and thank you @seldear for the delicious persimmons! @costasworld would be jealous! My daughter Clara even ate one to herself!

Next meet up is Thursday May 14 at @chuckandsonsbrewing from 6pm

Good firing! Through the lens of @vickigrima

Through the firing process, the clay changes from being shapeable and goes through a process of maturation…becoming ceramic - something useful, an object to be kept, until it breaks one day.

I love that clay embodies so many elements - water, fire, earth.

This photo makes me think about what the core of the earth looks like.

Thank you @vickigrima for being so generous in sharing all things ceramics with me.

This is one of those meals that looks simple… but packs a lot of nutrients in.

The mix of mushrooms, olive oil, garlic, chilli & parsley bringing in a powerful hit of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds ✨

Ingredients | 329kCal with 9g protein:
* 1 slice sourdough
* 100g oyster mushrooms
* 1 tbsp olive oil
* 1 garlic clove
* Sprinkle of chilli flakes (to your liking)
* A few chopped parsley leaves
* 25g light cream cheese

If I wanted to elevate this even further, I’d add a protein source like eggs or smoked salmon to bring the protein levels up!

Beyond excited to share that I will be developing the design of Mycelia House with the support of @powerhousemuseum @ed_k0 and the legacy of Carl Nielsen in the Carl Nielsen Design Accelerator Program.

This opportunity will provide me with the resources, connections and foundations to make Mycelia House a real world solution, so that we can grow mushrooms in our homes.

I am so grateful for this opportunity! Thank you to Angelique, Tashi, Ed and Adam for believing in this project and in me.

A massive thank you to @andrewcsimpson and @vickigrima for your ongoing support.

This is 2025. Mushrooms and terracotta, lots of experimentation, learning through trial and error, and trusting in the bigger picture. Thanks to everyone for being part of the journey.

It takes an ecosystem. cc: @vickigrima @a_shiny_green_demon @pittorinodesigns @717ns @sarah_jennings_designs @rufflefarm @sarahbaiada @gd_photo
