I’m very happy to be featured in the current April issue of Annabelle.

The article “How I Live” offers a personal insight into my home – a 1970s bungalow inspired by Californian mid-century architecture, which I discovered around three and a half years ago. As an art director for a Swiss furniture company, I’m driven by the balance between attention to detail and the bigger picture – an approach that is also reflected in my home.

The focus lies on a sensitive evolution of the existing architecture, a warm color concept with brick, terracotta, and subtle accents, as well as a mix of vintage design, personal finds, and self-made ceramics. What matters most to me is allowing spaces to evolve over time rather than over-planning
them from the start – with a clear style and independent of trends.

There was a sharp gasp of excitement when I shared news that @ft_houseandhome deputy editor @Laureni had interviewed garden matriarch @sarahravenperchhill for this week’s issue. More still when I said it was to talk about the fact that last year her business went into administration – but she bought it back, which has not been widely reported. There’s a lot to unpack about what went wrong and what she will change about the business that has become so important to garden-loving Brits.
Elsewhere, I loved @mr_macq’s story about the Engadin chalet restored to wood-clad, vintage furniture-filled sgraffito-adorned glory, and @keithflanny’s ode to modern plinths, check out Ghislaine Viñas’s take – with its bust of a masked John Wayne. @alicekantor, meanwhile, shines a spotlight on Paris’ extraordinary, full-pedestrianised school streets scheme that is making London and New York take note; @jes_salter falls for the Aussie cool of interior designer @tamsinjohnson; @lizrowlinson asks if the ‘off-market’ strategy for selling your home works in a sluggish property market, Lakes by Yoo founder @johnhitchcox rants about Stamp Duty and Robin Lane Fox pens a beautiful piece about death, and asks: will your garden be your legacy?
