Singer-songwriter @myraflynn returns home to Vermont to lead Find Your Song, a songwriting workshop at Chandler, helping participants turn their experiences and ideas into stories told through music.

What’s your story, and what might it sound like as a song? ✍️🎶

Myra will share practical songwriting tools and her own creative process, guiding you from an initial idea toward an original song. You’ll have opportunities to develop your work, receive feedback, and explore what you want to say.

No previous songwriting experience is required, and you don’t need to read music or play an instrument. If you play an instrument, bring it along!

🎶 October 30 • Culmination for friends and family
📍 Chandler Center for the Arts, 71 N Main Street, Randolph
✍️ Registration includes three sessions + culmination

ONE NIGHT ONLY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 23

A dead body in the woods of the fictional Vermont town of Highwater is where the trouble begins. Several neighbors suspect they may be responsible for Harry Worp’s death. Their response, however, is less panic than practical inconvenience. Harry is buried, unburied and moved repeatedly while friendship and romance unfold around him.

Part mystery, part romantic comedy, and entirely peculiar, The Trouble with Harry began as a novel by British writer Jack Trevor Story, adapted for the screen by John Michael Hayes. Hitchcock’s film was shot largely in Vermont in 1954 and had its world premiere in Barre the following year. More than 70 years later, audiences can encounter the story first from the script page — and then see how Hitchcock and his collaborators translated it to the screen.

A young widow, a free spirit, and a woman who knows a thing or two about making the most of an inconvenient situation. Especially when there's a body involved.

In 1955, Shirley MacLaine made her film debut as Jennifer in Hitchcock’s The Trouble with Harry.

On October 23, Vermont’s own Myra Flynn steps into the role for our one-night-only, largely unrehearsed live screenplay reading.

Same words. New voice. Seventy-one years later.

We are thrilled to announce that MYRA FLYNN is coming to The Phoenix and your tix will help us cover our lost income and ongoing legal fees from our bad actor landlord Myers Mermel. @wdev, the station Mermel now owns and our next door neighbor on Stowe Street, received a staff email from Mermel denying our claims.

Myra reached out to us because she heard about our landlord’s ongoing attempt to push us out of our space (which we pay on time and in full rent for) by blocking us from renting our currently open and empty studio upstairs (despite having a tenant ready to move in). She is playing this show as a benefit so tell your friends and let’s pack it out for a night of sensual and soulful storytelling. This date will be a last minute addition to her fall tour and we couldn’t be more thrilled to host. Thank you @myraflynn for loving and supporting our thriving arts space here in the center of Waterbury Village, Vermont.

MYRA FLYNN
Sunday, October 18th
Limited seating available so get your tickets early before it sells out. Tix will go on sale starting tomorrow at noon through Seven Days tickets and myraflynn.com. Look for the link in our bio and at thephoenixvt.com.

MYRA FLYNN’s latest album, Shadow Work, was released in the summer of 2023. Margaret Grayson of 7days describes Shadow Work as “... five songs deeply concerned with relationships of all kinds. Flynn, who splits her time between Vermont and Los Angeles, sings of mothers and daughters, romantic relationships gone wrong, and the people who get us through the hardest times.

Currently, Myra Flynn lives a bi-costal life, still holding onto her roots in Vermont part of her year while also working and living in Los Angeles under the guidance of Swift Street Management Team. She has created a jewelry line made from recycled piano parts and recently partnered with Vermont Vineyard, Shelburne Vineyard to create a namesake wine: FLYNN. She has toured the United States countless times as well as: Wales, London, Ireland and most frequently, Australia. Her motto regarding next steps and fame tends to be: “If you’re doing it, you’ve already made it.” ❤️
