While in Milwaukee this week for his soloist debut, violinist Julian Rhee offered a masterclass to students from Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra. An alumni of MYSO himself, Rhee has stated, "MYSO kindles and nurtures the most powerful core elements of music in each and every student and creates a space that builds perhaps the most important experience for any young musician: community.” We greatly appreciate this time given from Rhee to aid these talented, young musicians in our community! #yourMSO

New on the blog: Details about our work on the Violins of Hope-Wisconsin residency campaign. Last summer, the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra brought 70 instruments to Wisconsin that were owned and played by Jewish musicians and others targeted by the Nazis. They asked us to build the campaign brand, messaging guide, ads, and website for the five-month residency. Our first conversations weren't about design. They were about how to share these stories in a way that honors and respects the survivors and still inspires the community and young musicians of today. The full story is on the blog, from the hero image built out of historical photographs to the brand and messaging guide that helped 65 partner organizations speak with one voice. It's one of the projects we're most honored to have been part of. Link in bio. #ViolinsOfHope #ViolinsOfHopeWI #milwaukeeyouthsymphonyorchestra #BrandStrategy #CampaignDesign

I’m so excited to finally share this amazing experience!! ❤️ Back in November, @myso1956 performed a truly special concert for Violins of Hope. I am so honored and grateful to have been a part of this incredible opportunity and to have shared the stage with so many amazing musicians. Here are a few highlights from the concert, including two of the solos I had the opportunity to perform: Romimu by Rabbi Michel Twerski and From the Diary of Anne Frank by Michael Tilson Thomas. The official recording has finally been released, and it’s so special to be able to look back on this experience and share a few moments from it with you all. 🎶❤️ Thank you to @myso1956, @j.cartersimmons, and everyone who made this unforgettable concert possible.

It rained nearly all day. But stopped a couple of times, *just* for us and *just* when we needed it to. The first break came just long enough to pull the whole wedding party out by the water, with Lake Michigan behind them and the Milwaukee skyline off in the distance. We were all moving fast, laughing about how quick we had to be before the clouds changed their mind again. The second break showed up right before the reception, and it gave Tess and Grant a quiet few minutes outside, just the two of them, reflecting on the fact that they were now HUSBAND + WIFE!! 🎉 Grant’s motto is “it always works out,” and watching this day come together, it was so accurate. Everything happened just as it should have, with so much love and laughter surrounding them both. Tess and Grant met online and actually ALMOST missed each other in a bathroom mix-up. But somewhere between old fashioneds on that first date, they became one another’s person. And a couple of years later, Grant brought her right back to that same rooftop, dropped to one knee on a freezing December night, and made it official. In Tess’s words, “All of a sudden he was down on his knee and it was happening. (I don’t really remember what he said I think I blacked out).” They travel together, they try every new restaurant they can find, and they figure out life together with the kind of ease that’s just fun to be around. Rain and all, it worked out exactly like it was supposed to. Congratulations, Tess & Grant! 🤍

Going out in a Thursday night?! It was worth it! I had the absolute honor of being invited to the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Pathways to Success fundraiser at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, and wow. This city never ceases to amaze me. Nearly 1,000 young musicians across southeastern Wisconsin, and this event exists to make sure every single one of them has access to music education regardless of finances. In celebration of Women's History Month, we’re featuring our 2025 Betty honorees, women who carry forward the legacy of our founding publisher Betty Quadracci. Their leadership reflects the strength, tenacity and deep commitment to community that Betty championed. Today, we spotlight: Linda Edelstein, our Arts Advocate honoree. Since her first piano lesson at age 5, Linda Edelstein has known music would shape her life. As CEO of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, she now ensures thousands of young people experience the arts not as a luxury, but as a lifeline. Know someone who embodies the same spirit? Nominations for the next cohort of Betty honorees open May 1. Presented by: @rwbaird Video by: @lionartmedia
