POV: When the lions arrange their own bait for darting.

Usually, I dart lions on a bait… but these guys had other plans! After taking down an eland with the pride overnight, the pride left me with the perfect opportunity for early-morning darting and a check-up of this young male. Which included a health check, rabies vaccination and blood sample collection.

All good! And not long after, he was back with mum and his siblings.

A day we will never forget!🤯🦏

Tracking rhinos in Namibia 🦏🇳🇦

This was One of our Favourite experiences we had while volunteering at N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary!

Learning about the work that goes into protecting these incredible animals was such a unique experience.

Sadly Rhinos are highly threatened by poachers for their Horns which get sold on the black market! So learning and being able to help on this day was an incredible experiance.🦏

Beyond the refined comfort of your suite lies a sacred sanctuary of untouched beauty. Nestled within the expansive Zannier Reserve by @naankuse_foundation, Omaanda offers direct, intimate encounters with nature’s most majestic creatures.

Witness the silent grace of wild wildlife roaming freely across golden plains, a soul-stirring destination where luxury and conservation exist in perfect harmony.

An orphaned cheetah at a wildlife sanctuary. These cats are just incredibly beautiful. This boy purred for the time we were able to spend with it. Almost like a pussy cat but wild is where they belong.

Catch them protecting wildlife. Catch them stealing cuddles.

Behind every hardworking K9 is a dog who deserves love, playtime and a good cuddle!

K9s are an essential part of the APU (, helping their human handlers protect wildlife. With their incredible sense of smell, speed and specialised training, they can help track suspects and make anti-poaching operations more effective.

But when the working harness comes off, there’s still time for belly rubs, tail wags and some well-deserved love.

I remember Lianshulu because it was here that I learnt to make a necklace from the water lillies of the Kwando river.

It was 1999, and the Angolan bush war was in its death-throes. Tourism occupancy for the region - the Caprivi Strip* - was at 1%.

A Namibian German named Ralph owned the lodge. Ralph kept his staff on, despite there being no work. That’s the other reason I remember Lianshulu Lodge - for its caring owner.

And now it’s owned by Na’ankuse, an organisation devoted to care of Namibia’s wildlife, landscape and community. So it’s still a place of caring.

And the elephants of course.

Speak to me about designing safari itineraries far from the crowds, where spatial exclusivity is king.

It’s hard to believe that two weeks ago @ann_od_eire @hickey.theresa and I were in our David Attenborough era in Namibia. The nights were cold but the stars were amazing, the days were hot and the manual/ volunteer tasks tiring at times… but the wildlife was incredible. Some snippets.
1. 18 month old lion cubs play fighting
2 & 13. Tracking elephants on foot… came across a heard of 18 (including babies)
3. Our resident rhino Walter, was outside our week 2 accommodation every day
4 & 7. Pride of 9 lions just minutes from where we were staying
5. Tracking a 10 year old lion- such a handsome boy
6. Sundowners Namibia style… quite the scramble (well done Mum), worth it for the view
8. Fina the cheetah, rescued as a cub
9. Queen Shakirah the leopard- STUNNING
10. Baby orphaned baboons
11. Rudy the cheetah, rescued as a cub
12. 4 year old lion thriving in the wild- nice Mohawk
14. Giraffes everywhere- what are you looking at?
15. African sunsets are next level
16. Hot chocolate sundowners watching the hippos
17. Downtime

The @naankuse_foundation does incredible work for the wildlife and their communities

Squishy wake-up faces

When you wake up from your nap and realise the whole pride is waiting for you!

This beautiful lioness was slowly waking up after a routine contraceptive implant and collar check.

On fenced reserves, lion populations need careful management. Without natural dispersal, their numbers can grow beyond what the available space and prey can sustainably support and thus putting pressure on both the lions and their ecosystem.

Reversible contraceptives can be one of the tools used to manage populations responsibly.

The Kanaan Tree 🌌

This tree is one of many scattered across the stunning Kanaan Desert Retreat—135 square miles of vast emptiness, easily one of the darkest places on Earth.

I got down low to the ground, aiming upward at blue hour, and later that evening tracked the Milky Way using my @moveshootmove Nomad.

Shot using my @sonyalpha A7iii Astromodified by @spencerscamera & the awesome 14mm f1.8 GM from @lensesforhire

Hope you like it!
