POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sometimes, a film gives us the words for something we haven’t been able to explain. Other times, it simply reminds us we’re not alone.

We were honored to support our partners at NAMI Miami at the 2026 Reel Minds Film Festival, serving as a film judge and moderating “How Beautiful Minds and Beautiful Art Connect.”

Together, we explored how art can open conversations about mental health, help us express what we’re feeling, and create space for connection and healing.

Thank you, NAMI Miami, for bringing these stories and the people behind them together. 💛

How am I? Today was a good day. My friend visited for the weekend and helped me go through some memorabilia. I’m noticing that I’m happy when I reflect on the past with others, but when I’m alone going through the memorabilia and reflecting on the past, it’s really difficult. That’s probably how Arshan felt. When he was able to connect with people and talk about the past or things that were sad or mistakes that were made, it was easier than having to reflect on those things alone. Connection helps us to process things things in a more healthy way, and to look at difficult situations from a variety of angles. Sometimes it’s not all or nothing… Sometimes it’s not black or white. But when in the thick of things it’s hard to see that. What’s on my mind the most these days is the desire to want people to accept the truth. I know it’s easier to think that Arshan and others who make the choice in their lives were just being impulsive. When you think of it like that, it’s easier to be angry or frustrated with them and those two feelings are easier to deal with. It’s outward – projecting onto him. It’s harder when you know someone tried so hard and reached out for help for so long. Because that requires reflection and for us to look inward. But I trust that in the long run, grieving the truth, and being honest with ourselves, we are healing and we will be better equipped to show up for others in the future. I know that’s what Arshan would want. If you have any suggestions for how to help others feel chosen, wanted, and loved please let me know. Those are the things that stood out in Arshan’s message to us and I’d like to honor him by finding a solution. 🙏🏽❤️

🎬🎥 Stories have the power to bring people together, create understanding, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.

What an incredible couple of months! 🎶

Between producing events, bringing music into treatment centers and schools, teaching private students, and singing at a Miami Marlins game in front of 10,000 people, life has been moving at full speed!

Yesterday, I had the honor of representing @bandjam.co and @rocktorecovery as a panelist at the 2026 Reel Minds Mental Health Film Festival, presented by @namimiami at @lhccmiami.

It was a privilege to share my perspective at the intersection of music, psychology, and mental health alongside such talented filmmakers and advocates. The films were incredibly thought-provoking, and the conversations that followed were equally meaningful.

A special thank you to NAMI President & CEO Susan Holtzman for the invitation, and to @mayoreileenhiggins and @mayordlc for joining us and supporting our Miami community!

Grateful to be doing work that brings together my greatest passions: music, psychology, education, and human connection. ❤️

Every year, I’m proud to stand with NAMI Miami-Dade and remind our residents that no one should ever feel ashamed or afraid to talk about their mental health.

That is what made the Reel Minds Film Festival so meaningful. Through courage, honesty, and incredible storytelling, these filmmakers showed how mental health touches our community and why talking about it matters.

I had the honor of presenting the Chrysalis Award and Monarch Award and celebrating stories that help people feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Thank you to NAMI Miami-Dade for making sure our community knows that support and care are there when they need it.
