TOUT EST EN TOI ~ everything is within you

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When I arrived in Seattle last week, I didn’t quite know what to expect. I was excited but also terribly nervous.
@ruhanianddolma, a film that has taken us over two years to bring to life, was about to be screened for the very first time in front of a live audience. Our World Premiere.

My dear friend and co-writer @mattooha travelled from Toronto, and my childhood buddies @varnica.arora @sadiahrk and @sumanalahiry made their way from different parts of the US. Of course, my dear Producer, husband and constant companion through this journey @varunmalik1983 was also right beside me!

So walking into the theatre, I knew we had at least five people in the audience! Lol

Three other top notch films screened before ours. And somewhere along the way, by the time our film began, the house was full!

Throughout the screening my nervous eyes kept wandering around the auditorium. Was anyone falling asleep? Checking their phone? Looking bored?

But people were watching intently. Some were silently wiping away tears.

And then came my favourite part. The QnA. For twenty or so minutes, we spoke about everything. Why a scientist? Why nun? Where did the story come from? What inspired it? And what did it take to actually make this film?

I heard the words “how original” and “such an intimate film” more than once.

And I cannot quite describe what it meant to me. Because for two years, this has mostly lived in our heads and our hearts. But suddenly, it was no longer just ours. It belonged to everyone who watched it and could relate with it.

That is perhaps the most beautiful part of making a film. Watching something so personal find a place in someone else’s heart.

Thank you @tasveerorg @ritameher @filmmibayyan and the entire programming team, jury and volunteers for giving us space at Tasveer, 2026. @ritameher i truly hope that our paths cross again. What you have built for the South Asian community and the commitment with which you have built it is truly inspirational. I couldn’t have asked for a more meaningful first screening.

To my lovely team, let’s hope our film continues to find its way into many more hearts, in many corners of the world ❤️

Ajeeb waqt mein jee rahe hain hum. Nafrat ko awaaz badi aasaani se mil jaati hai, aur apne buniyadi haq ke liye ladne waalon ki awaaz daba di jaati hai.

Aise mein, Sukesh Nayak ki likhi Cadbury’s ki yeh film—do ladte-jhagadte padosiyon ke baare mein, aur unki roz ki takraar ke peeche chhupe pyaar ke baare mein.

Yeh film mumkin hi nahi hoti bina multi, multi-talented @gajrajrao Gajraj Rao aur @namitdas Namit Das ke. Aur, of course, Annapoorna aur Ruma ke pyaare cameos ke bina.

Gajraj sir, aapke saath kaam karna aur waqt bitaana ek absolute pleasure tha. Itni bareekiyaan. Itna thehraav. Aapko kaam karte dekhkar hi bahut kuch seekhne ko mila. Tahe dil se shukriya is film ka hissa banne ke liye. ❤️

Namit, tumhe Gajraj sir ko takkar dete dekhna kya treat tha! Itni subtle, phir bhi itni powerful presence. Tum dono ki nok-jhok dekhne mein bada maza aaya. Kai baar toh monitor ke peeche apni hansi rokna sabse mushkil kaam tha.

Annapurna aur Ruma, in do ziddi aadmiyon ki duniya mein itni warmth aur jaan bharne ke liye thank you.

Maestro Tassaduq @nonamunious —aapka kya kehna. 🙇‍♂️ Naam hi kaafi hai. :). Manishe @emmandom_omandemm Meri Sakhi thank you ❤️
Samiruddin, @sameeruddin_78 you is film ko itna warm score dene ke liye. Tanya thank you @tanya_oak @mukeshchhabracc Casting ke betaaj badshah .

Aur Louis Banks, “Kuch Khaas Hai” ki us timeless melody ke liye shukriya. ❤️

Parul @parulgulia Nikita aur Cadbury’s ki poori team—thank you hum par bharosa karne aur saath dene ke liye.

Hemant @crashtestmonty aur Sagar @sagarjadhav00 , hamesha ki tarah hamare saath morcha sambhaale hue.

Robin aur Vikram. Tum toh jaante hi ho. 🫵❤️.

Goodmorning team Abhishek - Jinu. Kya film kaati hai tum dono ne ….aur is film par kaam karne waale har shakhs ko—aapko aur aapke apnon ko Diwali ki bahut saari shubhkaamnayein.

Toh iss Diwali,
Thodi nok-jhok,
Thoda meetha ho jaaye!

A heart full of gratitude. Some moments feel like manifestation turning real. Thank you to the casting team for believing in me, and to the incredible cast and crew, @namitdas Sir and @gajrajrao Sir. Meeting @namitdas Sir, whom I admired since ‘Sumit Sambhal Lega,’ felt like a dream come true. And being part of this project is truly memorable. Thank you for the opportunity, the learning, and the beautiful memories. May God bless everyone with more success, happiness, and wonderful memories. Grateful heart, beautiful experiences, dreams turning into reality, and a lot more to come.

Happy Diwali everyone ❣️❣️❣️

Some relationships come with their share of nok-jhok, but there’s often more to them than we realise.

This Diwali, we have a little story about just that. Take a moment to watch 💜
