Fall riding in Nanaimo is on! 🍂

Here @harryolson from @nanaimomtb shares a little trail preview of Double Crown, a new double black descent trail at the Westwood Lake Trail Network.

This trail was built with progression in mind featuring a cool mix of wood work, drops, and jumps.

Keep your eyes peeled because they will also soon be opening a new blue trail that runs parallel to Double Crown.

All this work happens thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers who advocate for trails, navigate the logistics, and trail builders who put in hours on the ground to make this happen.

If you enjoy new trails and like riding well maintained trails consider buying a membership to the trail associations whose trails you enjoy riding, or donating to the trail associations via their website or @trailforks Trail Karma.

Let’s meet up this Sunday for a South Benson shred!

This is a social group ride. We stick together and climb at a social pace. There is never any pressure to send any features, we take pride in creating a supportive environment. This time around we will be riding blue and black trails.

Meet at the yellow gate/parking area off of Nanaimo Lakes Road
This ride is for the gals+

Rowdy ride participants must also either sign a waiver (link in Rowdy bio) OR be a Cycling BC Member.

🍁 Happy Labour Day!

Today, we’re thinking about all the people who keep outdoor recreation going in B.C.: both the people who do it as their job and the many volunteers who give their time for free.

That includes trail builders and trail planners, park rangers, guides, recreation planners, educators, land managers, policy people, government staff, non-profit leaders, business owners, and club organizers.

It also includes thousands of volunteers who maintain trails, run clubs, organize events, care for recreation sites and help keep local recreation opportunities going year after year (sometimes with a very helpful trail dog in tow). 🐕

A lot of that work happens behind the scenes, but outdoor recreation in B.C. simply wouldn’t happen without it.

Thank you to everyone who helps make it possible. 💚

Creeper trail is one of the more unique trails I’ve ridden. It’s a very technical XC trail (yes, XC), but it goes through large boulders, bridges and even a cave. One to check out at least once if you’re on Vancouver Island 🙌🏼
