🎨 SEE THIS: Her Story Through Art brings together the work of women artists whose creativity, perspectives and contributions have helped shape the cultural fabric of Las Vegas.

On display through December 30 at the @cityoflasvegas Civic Center Gallery, the exhibit is curated by Las Vegas Arts Commissioner Joan De Santis and @rawfemme founder Rawky Lozano and features 17 local artists working across a wide range of practices, backgrounds and experiences.

“Women have always been creating, shaping and contributing to the cultural identity of Las Vegas. Her Story Through Art honors that legacy,” Rawky says.

“Every artist brings a unique perspective, and together they demonstrate just how diverse and vibrant our creative community truly is. Their work connects us to where we’ve been, reflects where we are today, and reminds us that the story of women in Las Vegas continues to be written.”

Among the captivating works are @claricetara’s striking 8-foot by 8-foot “Sisters,” @mariana.ro.art’s intricate textile piece “Sueño Purépecha,” @wendykveck’s subversive “Daydream in Pink and Red,” @janelraihl.art’s collage “Flutter 2,” and previously unseen work from Las Vegas art-world legend @ritadeaninabbey.museum, among others.

The story continues beyond the gallery walls.

Raw Femme Media is partnering with @spotlightpoetrylv for Women in Poetry on Nov. 20, featuring women poets and a special Q&A with exhibiting artists hosted by @ellehopew.

Then on Dec. 12, @marketinthealley takes over the Civic Center plaza with a gathering celebrating local women-owned businesses, artists and makers, with a live performance by @jesssicamanalo.

📍: 525 S. Main St.
📆: Through Dec. 30
⏰: Wednesday–Saturday, 10am-3pm

UPDATE: Good news is that I'm remarkably healthy for 65, other than the annoying stye. Blood pressure = perfect. Heart rate = perfect. Respiration = perfect. Not currently on any prescriptions.Thankfully, they think topical antibiotic eye drops should take care of it, rather than needing oral. ❤️

===================

Well, this is unexpected. 🫤 Thankfully, nothing serious (at the moment) - just the first stye (right eye) in well over 50 years. Hoping for some relief following several days of pain, redness, swelling, and general ickiness.

Big shout-out and congratulations to Gear on another absolutely stunning mural—and to Black57 as well! So much talent in our community. ❤️

Loved spending time with Bobbie at Nevada Humanities, a longtime supporter of the arts, swapping stories about her colorful history, Nevada, and everything in between. And nothing beats running into old friends.

Sadly, the evening ended on a heartbreaking note with a shooting involving young people. My heart and prayers go out to everyone involved and their families.

Let’s not lose sight of what brings us together, art, community, friendship, and looking out for one another. ❤️
