POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
very late post but i think i finally have all of the words i want to say about impulse 2025 and my feelings on the activity in general.

i’m glad i got to call this corp my home for the last two years and i’m very grateful for all of the experiences and instruction that this opportunity granted me

however, i am equally glad that it’s all over. for the majority of the season, i was struggling with my wavering motivation to be a participant in this machine we call the marching arts. it felt like no matter what i did, it was just fundamentally incompatible with my life. i made many sacrifices, like many of my peers, to carve out enough time to be a part of this once in a lifetime opportunity. but i was struggling with reconciling the imbalance between what i thought i wanted (marching until age-out) and preparation for the rest of my life.

i kept telling myself that it was fine, that the thousands of dollars i could have put towards my school tuition, the hours i could have spent with my partner, friends, and family were ultimately worth this extremely transient experience. but as time kept going on, i became uncomfortably familiar with my lack of fundamental skill and DRIVE to be a successful marcher. as i got rejected and cut from every avenue and entrance towards my “dreams,” it became harder to ignore the incompatibility.

it’s tough saying goodbye to your dreams, and even harder to watch them die in front of you. this activity shaped me significantly when i was growing up as a little lost teenager and i thought it would follow me until i was 22.

obviously, it’s not all doom and gloom here 😭 i have made so many lasting memories and connections with people i would have never ever met otherwise. and the person i am today is no doubt due to what i have done in this activity. i want to thank all of my friends from the ‘24 and ‘25 snareline for simply existing alongside me, for giving me so many positive memories and helping me grow up honestly. and i want to apologise for all of the times i failed to show up and carry my own weight. you guys made putting on the drum bearable enough to keep coming back everyday. Hard to thank everyone but thank you @official_impulsedbc for letting me capture the season. Being on the staff side on tour definitely shows the hours of hard work everyone does to make a drum corps work. Make sure to thank your friends that helped you along the way. Thank the volunteers, staff, admin, donators that all make this activity possible. It was fun to relive drum corps and experience it in a new perspective. Thank you :) #impulsedbc #dci2025
