Can you believe it’s been more than 18 months since I started my graduate scheme at @thetimes 🎥 Now, I’m sharing my advice to anyone starting their own big girl journalism job 👩‍💻 #journalist #gradscheme #advice #newsroom

Introduce yourself to everyone on the team and get to know a bit about them! 👋

Start to grow your network both inside and outside of the newsroom whether that’s through events, social media or just striking a conversation in a cafe ☕️

Remind yourself of how you got here! If that was through student media (student tv for me), then join your alumni group. It’s so important to keep in touch with those who have come from the same place and are now in the industry too! 📹

Use that holiday allowance, take time back for yourself and do the things you enjoy! It may feel overwhelming at first but you’ll soon find a rhythm 💞

NaSTA 2026 🎥🏆

In summer 2025, we got the news we’d won the bid to host the National Student Television Awards 2026 and last month all of our hard work pulled off when we saw stations from across the UK celebrate each other!

The team here at LSUTV are incredibly grateful for the opportunity from @nasta and we want to thank the team who supported us throughout and helped pull off an incredible weekend 🤩

LSU Media as a section has made some huge milestones the past few years that wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated committees and members, and we’re so excited to add the biggest event in student TV to that list once again!

A huge Thank You to everyone at @loughboroughsu for assisting LSUTV the past year, it wouldn’t have been possible without your support and guidance 💜

A big appreciation to STAN, all of the speakers, exhibitors and judges who come to support student television year in, year out. The event wouldn’t have been possible without you’re continuous efforts to support us, up and coming in showbiz 🎥🙏🏻

A huge congratulations to all the stations. We all put tireless efforts into our passions and you all should be incredibly proud, and we’re so happy you were able to celebrate in style at Loughborough ♥️

And of course, the biggest pat on the back to everyone in LSUTV and LSU Media! Whether you attended as alumni, you were up for an award or just there for the vibes 🕺🏻 The NaSTA core team did an amazing job, going above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and it wouldn’t have been possible without the rest of LSU Media rooting for them 🫶🏻🎥🗞️📻📸⭐️

So it’s been a few weeks but I’m still stunned… Iris and Asriel got bronze for directing at the National Student Television Awards… how did we get here? I started writing this in a pub a little before the Christmas break on a day I particularly missed my grandma and now I’m shaking hands with the BBC’s design director @chrisckmedia . It’s been a long road but gods if my crew and I can make something like this now then gods am I excited for the future. Here’s to a long and winding road I can’t wait to keep exploring.
