POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I met @nate.slaughter on a set when I was getting my MFA at @newyorkfilmacademy back in 2019. I watched not only how he walked into a role but how he carried himself out of it, immediately I knew he was an actor that I wanted to write for. Now, we're in the rewriting stage for Close Quarters and I'm very blessed to be working with not only a peer but a bro, on and off camera. His character is one of my favorites to explore hands down, haha! I mean, who doesn't like a good villain?

From day one, 🖤✌🏽♠️’s mission has been to preserve the game and its lessons for the next generation.

Cutting through the trauma, the stereotypes, and the fear people have with Spades and other #BlackFamilyHeirlooms, hosting #SpadesAcademy at our gatherings and our residency at @ourhouse.48th have enriched the message behind why play matters and how learning the game can lead to so much fun, joy, and connection in our community.

We invite you to our next set of lessons.

Sept. 16th at Our House.

Learn to play via expert coaches over home-cooked meals, curated beverages, and good music.

(Bring some slides, too, as you gotta take your outside shoes off when you come to Our House, lol.)

Sights and sounds from our #SummerofSole game night series finale at @solefolks in Leimert Park. 🖤

Swipe to see why WE DON’T PLAY ABOUT OUR GAMES! 🗣️

Shout out to @_mr.brandnew for pulling with the portable arcade and classic games. 🙏🏾

That part! 😆

Playing @youcantdancegame from the makers of @blackcardrevoked. This is the group game that gets EVERYBODY going. 🕺🏾💃🏾

Team A didn’t come to play with that Soulja Boy dance. Pick up @youcantdancegame for your next function. Youuuuuuuuuuul love it!😂

Team B was Right Thurr to fight back with the 🐔 head dance. 😂

West coast dances hit different in LA. 😌

The coordination on this Thriller dance was incredible. She even hit ‘em with the moonwalk. 🤯

This is the kind of energy that every Black-owned game night needs. 😌

Ayyyyyyyyyy! Who remembers this classic?

Just casually came through and hit that so smooth. 👏🏾👏🏾

Feels so good being in a space filled with nothing but positive energy and people coming together to have fun, discover some new games and support Black-owned businesses. Thank you all for making this an unforgettable summer. 🖤

Big shout out to our partners in all this @solefolks and for @luq.look for holding us down all summer. We can’t wait to tell you about what’s coming next.

There are many places to learn Spades.

But none like how we do it, ya dig?!

There’s no shame in learning the game.

NORMALIZE GOING OUT OF YOUR WAY TO SUPPORT BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES! 🗣️

Not just in August or February. Not just when it’s convenient. Every chance you get. 🖤

That’s why we created The Blackout Game Night. We believe the easiest way to build the habit of supporting Black-owned businesses is to make it something people genuinely look forward to. So we bring people together for free game nights centered around more than 100 games from Black creators.

This #SummerofSole series has been living proof. Our deepest gratitude to @akilisfree and @solefolks for opening their doors and curating a space that feels like an extension of our mission. Much love to our resident DJ @luq.look, the food and drink vendors that kept us fed, and the good people of Leimert Park for filling the space with joy.

Together, we introduced hundreds of people to dozens of dope games from Black creators (like @kbomgame, @tradingraces and @youcantdancegame).

So here’s our challenge for Black Business Month: don’t let your support stop with us. Visit a Black-owned business you’ve never been to. Buy something. Tell your friends. Bring your community back. Post about it. Because that’s how habits become culture, and culture is how businesses survive.

We all we got. 🖤
