The August release of Five on the First launches Saturday, 8/1 at 9:45 AM EST 🗓️ Step into August with Nate Ethier @nateethier - whose exploration of natural light invites a fresh perspective with every glance. “My work deals with time, color, light, pattern, and human touch. I’ve long thought of pattern and pattern making as means to create something visually regenerative, or a sort of visual perpetual motion machine. The resulting painting, with all its accreted and organized marks being the visual record of the meditation that is found in the process. I see repetition and consistency of touch as a method to transmit care, and a sense of care, to whomever receives it. The illusion of projected light conveyed in my pictures gives each one of them a sense of life, action, and exuberant coexistence with the viewer. It’s magic.✨ If you want to see some mesmerizing magic on canvas, visit Precisely. before it closes on Tuesday, Jan. 6 at 5pm. I’m sitting in the gallery today, 12/27, Saturday from 11-1:30 (snow delay). The artists in this show make abstract paintings with rigor and precision. They utilize extreme craftsmanship as a tool, which results in the type of exactitude that one would likely find in a scientific lab or a philosopher’s notebook. The eye-popping exhibition features Sarah Walker @sarahwalkerobjects ; and Nate Ethier @nateethier; and the artist duo, Anoka Faruqee and David Driscoll @faruqeedriscollstudio . On a personal note, last summer, “Precisely.” co-curators Francene Langford and Chris Joy made an offer that I could not refuse - a visit to the studios of Sarah and Nate. I really enjoyed getting to know them and chat about the complexities of their work. I could not make the third studio date with @faruqeedriscollstudio but enjoyed talking to Anoka about how they divide, conquer, and collaborate on each piece. All works are for sale.
