315 has been conquered ⚔️

At 205lbs that’s successfully over 1.5x bodyweight. (Yeah I know, not competition quality, whatever). This was not a planned 1RM day but sometimes it’s just there.

Yes, it’s a surfing story . . . but mostly it’s a story about friendships. Friendships found on the wild, rugged shorelines of Vancouver Island. After hours of travel off-road across the mangled forests. Hurricane force winds. Lightning and thunder. Torrential rains. The clouds briefly opened just as we traversed the ridge. There just beyond the miles of thick tangled old growth evergreens we peaked what we had hoped for. Slabby reefs, and the waves they generated together with a strong winter swell. Perhaps the first time they had been seen in this way under these conditions. We were at the end of our time and the day was already growing late. This pathway would not be returnable in the short hours of the winter light. . . This would have to wait.
