Two years ago (!) I released “Beautiful Illusion,” which was meant to be a record not only about the amazement of life and existence Itself, but also to help bring comfort to those who are reaching the end of life. It was also my first venture into writing and arranging for strings. Since then, I’ve been doing some more writing and arranging for strings and I’m excited to be going into the studio again soon. It might be a minute before I can release anything, but stay tuned for more music on the way … In the meantime, thanks for listening 🙏🎵

Huge thanks to @gratefulweb for the great article on our debut single, “Colfax Swamp Blues” coming out October 21 from The Sparrows’ forthcoming self-titled studio album! 🐦‍⬛ “Colfax Swamp Blues” is a blues-rock track where the groove isn’t clean. It’s swampy. Primal. Gritty. Rooted in the tradition of Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Leadbelly, this song takes that spirit and drags it somewhere a little darker. 🔥 Out October 21. Go check out what Grateful Web had to say! 🙏🏽 https://www.gratefulweb.com/articles/gabe-mintz-the-sparrows-channel-denvers-raw-side-on-colfax-swamp-blues/

Gabe Mintz & The Sparrows are releasing their debut single, “Colfax Swamp Blues,” on October 21, a blues-rock instrumental inspired by the Avenue Gabe has called home for the past 10 years. There are plenty of ways to describe Colfax Avenue. It is the longest continuous commercial street in the United States, a road with a long history in Denver and a place connected to Jack Kerouac’s cult-classic book On the Road. But for Mintz, it is also a street where the city looks nothing like the clean, polished version sold to outsiders. “The homelessness you see, the addiction, cheap roadside motels, prostitution, and neon bar signs that come alive at night show the kind of scene that polite society prefers not to acknowledge,” he says. “It is exactly the kind of street that produces the blues.” The result is a blues-rock single built not on the standard four-count that anchors most rock songs but on a lurching five-count that feels as off-balance as the street it’s named for. The groove isn’t clean. It’s swampy and primal, rooted in the tradition of Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Leadbelly. “‘Colfax Swamp Blues’ doesn’t move in the usual way most songs do,” Mintz says. “That 5/4 timing resonates deeply – it’s a little off-kilter, quirky and unexpected, and in that way, it’s similar to the Sparrows and myself.” For “Colfax Swamp Blues,” Mintz assembled an exceptional cast of collaborators. Guitarist @djwmusic who spent more than twelve years playing alongside @karldensonstinyuniverse – saxophonist of @therollingstones – brings the kind of seasoned, elastic playing that can only come from decades on the road. Guitarist @shawn_eckels is another road warrior who spent a decade with @andyfrasco rocking stages and blowing minds. At the core of the song is the album’s producer and Mintz’s close friend @jackmarty12 the keyboardist for rising jam scene stars @sqwerv who brings the vintage Hammond organ sound that grounds this track. Lastly, Mintz had hot-shot horn player @nateplaysnotes put the cherry on top with his buttery arrangements. 🎸🎹🎷 ‘Colfax Swamp Blues’ will be available 10/21 wherever you get your music! 🖼️: @arfwork_graphic_design

ROWDYTOWN 14!!! WHAT AN EPIC NIGHT WITH ALL OF YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!! This one felt incredibly special to me, down to the very last note. I’ve always loved crafting the musical journey of these shows, but getting to celebrate 10 YEARS of Brighter Future gave me such a unique opportunity to create something that felt really meaningful. When I was sitting at home writing the music and the words for the intro, I would literally tear up EVERY SINGLE TIME I played it back. 😂 Like… I’m sitting there WRITING IT and can’t even hold back the tears hahaha. I LOVE creating music that makes me feel like that!! And then getting to build the entire night around the story of Brighter Future, while weaving in all of the newer music we’ve been releasing and turning it into one big journey… man, it’s seriously one of the most fun projects in the world. I feel incredibly lucky that I get to do this. 🎷🎶 Speaking of being incredibly lucky… I’ve said this so many times, but I truly believe WE HAVE THE BEST COMMUNITY IN THE WORLD!! ❤️ I hear it time and time again — people telling us how warm, welcoming, and genuinely awesome the people at Big G shows are. YOU GUYS… it is an absolute HONOR to be on this journey with all of you. I MEAN THAT!! ❤️ And finally, a HUGE THANK YOU to our entire team, from top to bottom, for making this show what it was this year. All of the musicians and performers, our managers, agents, production team, video, audio, crew, stagehands, Red Rocks staff, and everyone behind the scenes who puts so much into making this night happen… WE SALUTE YOU!! 🫡 We love you, and we appreciate you more than you know! FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART… THANK YOU, ROWDYTOWN!! ❤️🎷🛘🎶 #redrocks #rowdytown #sax #edm #colorado
