What rule does your business break?

It's a pattern that we spot across some of the most successful startups we've funded.

It doesn't have to be a huge systemic rule, sometimes it can be something as small as questioning why we throw something into landfill when it could be reused. Or why some services aren't offered as something that's mobile and could come to people's homes.

@_laurencurrie_ talks a lot about the invisible rules of society that we're not even always aware of. Thinking about these could be a good exercise for you to think about your startup and the potential rules you may be following without even thinking about it.

“So what do you actually do?”

My entire career in fifteen slides, featuring: a job title I did not make up, one hypertensive crisis, and the moment I worked out that fun is a legitimate business strategy.

Save it if you’ve got something stuck in your head. Send it to a mate who’s been about to start a podcast since 2024. Or just admire the disco ball I literally have hanging in my dining room.

It's what every founder wants to know... an in-depth description of exactly how a later stage business did the fundraising through their business at different stages along the way 😍
