It took Natrishka almost a year to feel ready for this series with photographer Charles Blouin. Born in Durban, South Africa, she grew up during apartheid, with South Indian heritage on her father’s side and a mother of mixed heritage.

There are many parts of herself that Natrishka brings into these images — her femininity, her heritage, motherhood, and the woman she has become over the years. The images feel playful and sensual, but behind them is also a very personal story.

The idea for the shoot came during a difficult time in her life. After a breakup and miscarriage, Natrishka found herself struggling with her confidence and comparing herself to other women online. At first, she wanted to recreate the kind of images she saw there — images of women she thought were desired in a way she wasn’t.

But over the course of that year, the idea changed. It became less about how someone else might see her and more about how she wanted to see and feel herself. About trusting her own body again, and embracing her age, motherhood, softness and maturation.

In some of the images, Natrishka wears a sari, a traditional garment from the Indian subcontinent, given to her by her father. “The way I have wrapped it would be laughed at by all the aunties,” she laughs. “I have not done it properly with a sari blouse and tucked well. My father bought it for me, and I really wanted to have it in gold and green, as I imagine myself getting married in a modern sari with a green and gold vibe.”

Together with Charles, she turned those thoughts into a wonderfully warm and sensual analogue series, filled with nostalgic colours and a beautiful sense of intimacy.

The past few days I’ve been talking with some of the younger kids I train with here about bringing capoeira lessons back into the community.

Funny thing is: I’ve never been a capoeira teacher.

So now I’m standing there trying to remember my old warm-up routines like… wait, what the hell came after this again? 😂

Memory is a strange archive. Some things are foggy, some return through watching old clips, some through music, some through the body itself.

I’ve been carrying my berimbau with me and playing whenever I can. Slowly, pieces are coming back: rhythms, movements, rituals, the feeling of training together. And looking through these old photographs and videos reminds me how much love, discipline and community lived inside those rodas.

I don’t want to pretend to remember what I don’t. I want to honor what was taught to me, and find my way back into the flow with patience.

Maybe that even means returning to the Pacific side for a few months to train again with Muzenza.

For now, I’m listening to the berimbau.

And apparently, my body is listening too.

Axé.

Some days don’t fit into words.

They ask you to surrender.
To trust.
To soften.
To remember.

We began with breath… peeling back the layers of protection we’d carried for years. And then, held with deep intention, we stepped into a sacred medicine journey🍄

What unfolded cannot be captured on camera.

There were tears that had waited a lifetime.
Laughter that felt like freedom.
Hearts that remembered who they were before the world told them otherwise.

Watching these women return home to themselves is why I do this.

This wasn’t about escaping life.
It was about meeting it more fully—with open hearts, deeper truth, and profound love.

The Frequency of Beauty has never been about what you see in the mirror.

It’s the frequency you embody when you finally remember who you are. ✨🤍🍄

So,so proud of these ladies for walking through their fear to step into their truth.

Yesterday I had one of the most amazing healing experiences of my life🙏🏼

Before I head into holding space and facilitating my retreats, there is a clearing & cleaning of myself that needs to take place.

I was introduced to @natrishka through @brittanyleighsmith as I was looking for a breath work facilitator. I connected with her energy immediately over zoom. As she was telling me about all her offerings, she shared with me a treatment called YUM (her own creation) that she offers. Y-you, U-universe, M-medicine.

It’s a 2.5 hour treatment. You take the medicine (psilocybin) and she does the most intuitive body work, energy work, and healing visualization. Words cannot even begin to describe what was healed in my body. Because my intention was to work on womb healing I completed my journey with a Yoni steam🌹

I wish people truly understood the power of the human body and the power of medicine women and healers like Natrishka. Traditional doctors are missing so much about how the human body, mind, and spirit system work.
