Last night, Sarah Rabinowitz, a talented storyteller in @adamwadestoryteller ’s Level 3 storytelling class, told me that she had always wanted to be a clown. (I hope I’m not outing her here!)

It made me wonder how many clowns had a moment in childhood when they first realized that’s who they really were. I told the story of my moment of realization in a Moth Story slam. As my wife @natstandiford says, I now proudly identify as a clown.

I had to create a pretty post for my ultimate favorite book of the year (and honestly, life too along A THOUSAND HEARTBEATS)

I've posted the review but I will say some reasons why this piece of someone's imagination changed my life.

💕 The audiobook is fantastic and I probably wouldn't have loved it as much as I did the first time, if I wouldn't have listened to it. Each radio caller has a different voice, kind of full cast!

💕 This is not romance necessarily, but Bea and Jonah have a very beautiful relationship as friends or whatever they are. They're soulmates.

💕 It's so... Sad. I'm not kidding, I cried 3 times and everytime I reread the ending I cry again.

💕 Even if its fast paced and simple, it is deep. Jonah's personality is so complex and the first time I read it, I saw him as a bad friend but the second time I understood everything behind it.

💕 Every character is memorable. I want to know the life story of every radio caller, I want answers of everything that wasn't told here, and that's how I know a book it's great. When I can feel it as more than words, but a World itself.

💕 The fact that now I want more sad but fun books because of this one...

💕 It's underrated and hard to find these days (tragically) but I listened to the audiobook first and then, after a lot of scrolling and DMs, I got it from a thrift store 😭

Anyway, I hope you like my post lol because I'm mostly lazy and I don't do many like this one. Maybe I should do more.

Btw, even the song and the lyrics are related to the story.

Hello book friends 😊
This is a complicated book for me to review. I want to start by saying I expected nothing from this book, I assumed it was going to be a boring, bad written book but I always pick at least 1 book I assume I won't like once in a while to give it a chance and once again I am so surprised.
This is a book about grief, hate, love, friendship and lies.
Beatrice meets "ghost boy" Jonah, who is a quiet guy and they start to interact. Something connects them, a radio station at midnight and random radio listeners with interesting stories.
Beatrice "robot girl" and Jonah become friend, good friends, best friends and more but not romantically. They're friends with complicated families.
Jonah's brother is alive but not in good physical conditions, Beatrice mother is keeping secrets, her father is distant and her friends are not so good.Things happen, things that can make you feel frustrated with Jonah and angry, Beatrice is a good daughter, a good friend and a good person but sadly feels like the world is not treating her as she deserves. Jonah has problems and issues but Beatrice is going through stuff and no one is paying attention to her. That made me frustrated. I liked their friendship but Jonah had issues and he definitely had no right to use Beatrice as a therapist, their friendship had crumbs of good moments but it was unbalanced.
And the ending...
I cried and I don't know if I'm over emotional or this just was one of those books that I connect so much with the characters that feel so real and so close to my heart but oh my god the ending is so beautifully heartbreaking. This is beautiful and painful and sad and real and I don't want to say goodbye to these characters but just like the title, I have to learn to say goodbye too. And the last paragraph...
I'll stare at the picture of the boy in the Casper mask struggling to remember why I loved him. That's how I imagine it anyway "

Had to make my own ballot for best books of the 21st century ✨✨ These are only books I have read, I have loved, and I was left with a lasting impact - and really there is no other criteria or particular order that I listed here . Just books I love! And there happens to be a decent variety of genre, I think. If only @nytbooks asked some of us, right!! Honestly, this made me realize just how many of my fav books were published this century so it was hard to narrow down. A lot of these are one I have shared with you beautiful people on this account already, so pls enjoy! 💛

📚 Happy December! 📚

Spent November catching up on some old arcs I had, and finally reading The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes before the adaptation came out.

Lots of great reads and can’t wait to see what I can read in December. Any recommendations?
