We had two boxes of organic peaches from @naturallyadeal so I made low sugar, pectin-free peach jam. 🍑

Got to use a lemon squeezer I made a couple weeks ago to get freshly squeezed lemon juice, since lemons are naturally high in pectin.

Our family saves jars, so we got to fill up some old ones, a few of them were even Bonne Maman @bonnemaman_us jars. New jam, old jars. 🫙

Here is our peach jam recipe!
3 1/2 pounds peaches (1 lb = 3 to 4 medium peaches), peeled, pitted, and cut into chunks
1-1.5 cups organic raw cane sugar (depending on how sweet your peaches are!)
Juice from one lemon

Instructions

Add peaches and lemon juice to a medium saucepan. Bring to boil over medium-high heat, using a spatula or masher to crush peaches to desired consistency.
Reduce medium heat. Add the sugar to the peach mixture. Bring peaches back to a full rolling boil, stirring frequently.

Continue to boil and stir, until peaches reduce and reach desired consistency. (Anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes – jam should stick to spoon when lifted and turned sideways.)

Let the peach preserves cool, if you find the jam is not at the consistency you desire, you can bring the peaches back to boiling for about 10 minutes and then let it cool again.

Everyone asks where we buy all this bulk food. Thankfully there are more options besides warehouse stores like Sam’s Club and Costco.

Here’s what we have used:

• Azure Standard for some items, not everything
• @naturallyadeal (not nationwide, see if routes are near you)
• Calling local stores/ groceries and asking about special bulk orders

A lot of places will order in bulk if you just ask. They may not advertise it.

Food is important, but this is the follow up question I get most often. What else do you buy in bulk?

For us, it’s the things we use all the time. Baking soda for cleaning. Canning lids I never want to run out of again. Detergent, soap, and other household staples.

Buying in larger quantities usually saves money over time, especially when it’s something you already use regularly.

The key is buying what you already use, just less often and usually at a better price.

We’ve bought bulk from @azurestandard, @naturallyadeal and friends who make the trek to Costco will pick things up for us too. (@costco won’t you come make another one in Johnson city TN?!)

Do You Know What this Farmer is Doing?

Choppin' haylage for dairy cows that supply milk to Fox Meadows!

When so many farms have gone to giant tractors and self-propel choppers, it's neat to see these rigs still going... and getting into the tight fields of Lancaster County, PA.

I used to work for this farmer some when I was a kid, so it was neat to be able to come back decades later and do some video of his tractor out in the field. 🙂

Did You Know this is How Cider Used to Be Made??? 😲🍎

It sure is! This antique press is over 100 years old and still making cider much how they used to make it back in "the old days".

These apples, which were a mix of several varieties, came fresh from a couple local orchards. And to make it taste even better, pears were mixed in to add a more complex flavor!

Went over to Hot Springs with a couple local church guys this week to clear debris left in the wake of Helene. We managed to clean up around the home, but there is still a lot to clean up and repair. This is just one little glimpse of the damage done by the flood to these communities. Still a lot of work to get done for these areas to be back to “normal”. Your donations and prayers have been very much appreciated by all!

DISASTER RELIEF BOGO FLASH SALE! We are all absolutely heartbroken by the devastation just a few hours from us. Our friends at @naturallyadeal are boots on the ground, bringing much needed supplies ,food and muscle to both victims and relief workers! We have sent some snack sticks with them but we would like to do more and we are giving you a chance to jump in on the action! High quality, portable, ready to eat snacks are critical both for victims as well as first responders! As such, we will run a BOGO sale from now until Friday where every order that is placed, we will double and send the whole order, either to our friends at @naturallyadeal or distribute to some of our firefighter family that are helping with relief efforts!

Had the opportunity to deliver supplies with @naturallyadeal to Hot Springs, NC yesterday. We did some clean up but there is still a lot to do. The photos and videos don’t really do the damage justice. Not only is there a heavy financial toll placed on the residents, but some of them are completely stuck due to bridges being totally washed away. I will be collecting donations at my storefront this Friday for the people of Hot Springs. Below is a list of some items needed. They can be dropped off at-
