🌼Jan 5th START 🌼 I’ve been trying to figure out how to explain the Guided Year lately, which is kind of funny considering I’m the one who created it.

I can tell you what’s in it easily enough. A full year together, 24 modules, more than 180 recipes, Tuesday afternoon calls, and a Raw Food Chef Certificate at the end of it all.

It’s everything that happens over that year that’s harder to put into a neat little description.

So I went back to this video.

These are some of the women from our 2024 Guided Year. We spent the year together online and then, somehow, I managed to convince them to come all the way to Nicaragua for a five-day immersion at the end of it. 😂

That last part isn’t usually how the Guided Year ends, but I love that it happened with this group.

Watching this again reminds me how much can happen when you give something an entire year. You cook a LOT of food, obviously, but there are also the conversations, the friendships, the things that click six months in, and all the regular life that happens in between.

Anyway, I think I’ll let them tell you what it was like from here.

Registration for the next Guided Year is open now. We begin together, Wednesday, January 6.

I have room for 8 people to come along for the year and I’m looking for 4 more to compete our group. Maybe one of those places is yours.

What does it actually take to change a life?

Like really change it. Flip it in a way that actually holds.

Because inside Pachavega, everything is already there.

The modules, the recipes, the lessons… you can move through it on your own time, at your own pace. And for some people, that works beautifully.

But I’ve been watching this for years now.

There’s a difference between having something… and living it.

A big difference.

And the place where things start to shift is when there’s a rhythm to return to.

A time each week where you show up, whether you feel on or off, clear or a little lost, and we’re there together in it.

It becomes a conversation instead of something you circle.

It becomes something you live inside of.

The kitchen starts to feel different. you get your groove. The way you think about food starts to soften. It’s easier to notice yourself coming back more easily when you drift.

And the community piece… that part always surprises people.

Being in it with others, hearing what they’re moving through, realizing you’re not the only one figuring this out in real time. Becoming friends.

Something lands there.

That’s the Guided Year.

It’s me meeting you each week. Us together. A group of 8 of us. We co-create a space that holds you through a full year of your life.
It’s Pachavega, but lived in real time.

We begin October 5th.

When I look at these photos, I see evolution.

I see people choosing to grow. I see ideas tested, refined, expanded. I see the expression of a school that has stayed rooted while the world around it has changed a lot.

Over the last fourteen years, close to 600 students have studied inside the online school and more than 210 have trained with us in person. When I include workshops and retreats, it’s nearly a thousand people who have engaged with this work directly.

There were no major ad campaigns behind that. No corporate backing. It grew through conversation. One person experienced a shift and told another. Sometimes it really was as simple as a poster in a coffee shop bathroom.

Trends come and go. Fads rise and disappear. What lasts is deeper than that.

The mission has never been about the latest wellness wave. It’s rooted in something older and steadier: that we are responsible for our health, that food is foundational, that the body is intelligent, and that education allows us to live that wisdom in real life.

Science evolves. Understanding deepens. Programs change as new research emerges and better methods are proven. That evolution is part of integrity. But the core remains the same: healing is holistic, and food is where we begin.

Most businesses don’t make it this long. Pachavega has, because it was built on something that doesn’t expire.

Next year marks fifteen years. This year, the physical space in Nicaragua continues to expand, and the school keeps growing in ways that feel aligned. I’m also opening space for a limited number of private, immersive retreats for those who want to work more closely and deeply.

If you’ve been part of this school in any way, share this.
That’s how it has always grown.

Rooted deeply.
Reaching upward.

Fourteen years of steady expansion.

I’m curious… have you been part of Pachavega’s journey?

Day 1 of Nomad Summit

Being a digital nomad is about so much more than just traveling—it’s about building a life that aligns with our values and aspirations.

Today, we explored this from many angles, challenging conventional ideas and questioning what it truly means to live a nomadic life.

We started by questioning the very foundations of society. Vikram (@vikbharati), Co-founder of @drapernationhq asked us to rethink the structures our world is built on, while Lily Szabo (@lilygoose89) posed a provocative question: Is digital nomadism actually making us happy, or is it just another phase we grow out of?

Leah McHugh shared her journey of balancing a location-independent lifestyle while running a physical business, proving that freedom can take many forms.

Ambroise Debret (@ambroisedebret) and Oliver Sild (@oliversild) debated whether we should focus on scalable startups or stick with freelancing to achieve our goals.

But what is it that we’re all chasing? Freedom? Choices? A sense of purpose?

Johnny FD (@johnnyfdj) offered a unique perspective as a retired digital nomad. At one point he had achieved everything he set out to do—but his story reminded us that the journey doesn’t end when we hit our goals.

Geleen (@geleenonthego) led a panel with Liisi (@liisiorg), Micheal and John (@johnmho) that tackled the mental health struggles that come with breaking away from traditional paths. The nomadic lifestyle is anything but conventional, and today’s discussions highlighted the highs and lows of carving out our own unique journeys.

Ultimately, we all share a common desire: to build lives full of opportunities and choices.

Today’s stage brought diverse perspectives, thought-provoking questions, and inspiring stories. What’s clear is that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The path we choose is entirely our own to create.

And this was just Day 1 - we are excited about what tomorrow will bring!

Now, as we build a permanent space on Ometepe Island, this new chapter signifies a profound expansion of our mission.

Our permanent Community Kitchen Center will provide a stable foundation for our programs, allowing us to offer more comprehensive and impactful education, foster deeper connections, and create a lasting sanctuary for health and well-being.

This new space will not only enhance our ability to deliver our message but also provide a welcoming environment where people can come together to learn, share, and thrive.

Stepping out of the comfort zone to experience new things will change your life forever. This summer was Ometepe 🏝️, the new friends, spending time with an incredible group of women from all over, the peace and calm, taking time to be in the moment and remove the noise, enjoying the beauty of the earth all around🌴🌊, working on myself and life’s traumas. Grounding, gratitude and growth has been the theme this summer. Now to keep the practices in place and not fall back to old habits✅ #trynewthings #grateful #growth #grounding #travelforpeace #ometepe #nicaragua #grief #mentalhealth #childloss #adventure #nocomfortzone #travel #live #today

Read how it all began! ⬇️ I’m Danielle Arsenault, and my journey has fueled my passion for health, wellness, and plant-based living. At Pachavega Living Foods Education, we’re dedicated to healing, empowering, and giving back to our community.

For more than four years, I lived in a van and later an RV to make Pachavega a reality. This nomadic lifestyle had its challenges, from hauling water in freezing Rocky Mountain winters to moving equipment and kitchen supplies across venues. And for the past 1 and a half I’ve been living without a fridge on a tropical island. Despite the obstacles, my dedication to plant-based living has remained steadfast.

A pivotal moment came when my daughter Indi had a near-drowning experience. Her recovery through herbs, supplements, and nutrient-rich food reinforced my commitment to vibrant living to continue to inspire others.

For 11 years, I’ve dreamed of a permanent kitchen space for Pachavega. This new space will allow us to expand our impact and provide a consistent environment to teach, inspire, and transform.

Our courses go beyond culinary skills; they offer a gateway to a healthier life. At the forefront of our community program is a year-long program called Programa de Empoderamiento y Salud Integral for local women. We teach this course in Spanish, aiming to improve their diets and address issues like kidney problems and diabetes in our community.

Help us build Pachavega’s Plant-Based Culinary School in Nicaragua. There are three ways to support:

🥬 Supporter: Monthly sponsorship starting at $5/month, or $47/month for the Premium Online Membership (with lifetime access to all online programs)

🥑Sponsor: $1,000 to fund a local woman’s year-long experience in “Programa de Salud Integral.”

🍑Steward: Corporate and private donations with exclusive rewards.

We’re working hard behind the scenes… Stay tuned for the ways in which you can help! Or contact me directly if you have some ideas!
