Matchatini, vol.01 🍸🍵
We put matcha and vodka in a room together and asked: can this be the next espresso martini?

A few frames from a night that felt exactly like it was supposed. Full recap coming soon.

This summer is fast approaching but we’re still in our feels about our amazing event last month. ☺️

Pannists have the responsibility of nurturing this beautiful instrument, sharing the history & cultural significance, all while showing the range of the instrument.

Events and workshops like ours are so important especially in North America where we are removed from the source culture(s) directly and we don’t see ourselves reflected in society. This separation creates a gap in those in the diaspora and we’re using steelpan to fill that gap.📍

This event serves as a milestone for Toronto steelpan and a motivator to find adequate funding so we can continue to provide hands-on access through workshops and lessons to those within and outside the culture. 🤌🏾

Thank you again so much to our participants, band mates and leaders for coming together for this beautiful afternoon of culture and togetherness. 💙

Know somewhere that would benefit from our vibes? Tag them in the comments and share this post with them! 👇🏾

Love and blessings because our heart is still full from the first ever influencer steelpan workshop 💙

This is just a small taste of what the vibes were like on the inside - trust we have footage for days of everyone enjoying themselves around this beautiful instrument.

Led by millennials, we’re bridging the gap in steelpan and making it more accessible in Canada for those both inside and outside the culture. 🤌🏾

Rooted in tradition yet always evolving, we’re just getting started ‼️

Impulse’s Influencer Steelpan Workshop 🎶

We had the pleasure of hosting Canadian influencers and cultural tastemakers from the Caribbean diaspora to experience steelpan firsthand. We’re passionate about limiting access to barriers to allow people to interact with steelpan as a participant and not just a spectator. 🤌🏾

Through sharing our mission and vision, a mini history lesson of the instrument, and participating in a mini lesson, our attendees got to immerse themselves in the culture. Experiences like this are important to create and vital to the longevity of the art form. Cultural education is important and we take that responsibility seriously.

Thank you again so much to our attendees and our band members for making this amazing event a success! We’re so grateful and our heart is so full from the love and support on this brilliant event. 💙

We’re just getting started.

Rooted in tradition yet always evolving, we’re pushing the culture forward one note at a time. 🎶
