I couldn’t be myself unless I was drunk or high.
Time to take off the masks I used to collect.

11 years ago I told my wife something happened to me when I was a kid.
That I felt broken, ashamed, unlovable and weak.
I still numbed with weed and alcohol.
I quit drinking at 44, fell off the bus at 47, got back on at 48.

I had to look in the mirror and break down and cry.
I had to face the pain. Be with it. Feel it to heal it.

At 48 I shared online...
Honestly, it was a trauma dump. I didn’t know how to share.
It was messy, and people started reaching out.
Not text. Actual phone calls.
I could see their shoulders drop.

Here’s my REAL method.

R. Reputation with myself. I wake up with the moon still out, and I’m at the gym while the sun rises.
E. Engage with myself first. The wild thoughts, the inner chaos, the monkey mind.
Eventually it stopped throwing shit at me and got quiet.
A. Authority is the little things. Plan the night before.
Wake up when the alarm goes off. Snooze isn’t an option.
L. Leverage. Love sharing my mess. It’s when people started saying,
“Something like that happened to me too. I’ve never told anybody.”

People appreciate the messy parts, because all of our lives are messy.
We are not the perfectly produced movie trailer.
We fail forward by being real instead of polished.

Share something you’ve never shared with anybody.
Be comfortable being uncomfortable.
Show up & share for yourself.

i used to wake up a grab my phone and scroll like my life depended on it.
it made me feel anxious, late for the day, behind on my goals and shitty about my self.
until i realized i had the same amount of time every day to achieve my goals instead.
which is when i finally starting winning by keeping promises i made
to myself and rebuilt confidence and self esteem.

I used to think being liked
meant being accepted.

So I’d people-please,
and hide my real opinions.
I held onto old relationships
that were mostly
surface level
and fake.

Eventually, I realized
being liked isn’t the same
as being truly known.

Now I’d rather be honest
and dislike for who I am,
than pretend and be loved,
for someone who I’m not.

For me,
that’s part of what
