We tell grassroots stories no one will. Changing the narrative for Mexican Americans and Latinos 🇲🇽🇺🇸 New Account

Devin Booker grew up in Michigan and Mississippi. His dad is a Black hooper from Mississippi. His mom is Mexican-American. For most of his life, he knew he had Mexican roots, but he’d never really lived them.

Then he got drafted to Phoenix. 🌵

Surrounded by hundreds of thousands of Mexican-Americans, he started learning the culture, the food, the family history. He said it himself: it’s never too late. Some people will tell you you’re “not Mexican enough.” Not enough Spanish, not raised in the barrio, too mixed. Booker is proof that your roots don’t expire. You can claim them at any age. 💯

Did you know Book was Mexican-American? Drop a 🇲🇽 if you’re claiming yours. 👇 #devinbooker #latinos #heritagemonth

Before skating had rules, Tony Alva was breaking them.

A Mexican-American kid from Santa Monica’s Dogtown, Alva rode with the Zephyr team, the Z-Boys, in the ‘70s. When drought left Southern California’s backyard pools empty, they climbed in and turned them into playgrounds. Alva flew higher and harder than anyone, launching out of the bowl and into the air. That move helped turn skating from a sidewalk hobby into the vertical, aggressive sport we know today.

In 1977 he was crowned world champion. That same year he started Alva Skates, one of the first companies owned by a skater instead of a corporation. He didn’t wait for permission. He built his own lane.

The attitude, the style, and the swagger all trace back to a Brown kid from the westside who refused to play it safe. 🛹🔥

The greatest hitter in baseball was Mexican. He hid it his whole career. Ted Williams. His mom was May Venzor from El Paso. His tío Saul taught him to hit.

He wrote one sentence about her in a 232-page book, said if he’d had her name, they never would’ve let him play.

He wasn’t ashamed of us. He was scared of them.

Rosie Hamlin was only 15 when she recorded “Angel Baby”but somehow, she captured a feeling generations of Latinos would carry forever.

It wasn’t just a love song. It became the soundtrack to slow dances, backyard parties, cruising, heartbreak and young love.

Some songs become hits. This one became part of our culture. 🇲🇽❤️🎶

It looks like you’re walking across the sky, but this is Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, the largest salt flat on Earth.

During the rainy season, a thin layer of water transforms the ground into a massive natural mirror, perfectly reflecting the clouds above. The horizon disappears, and for a moment, it feels like heaven and Earth become one. 🇧🇴✨

Would you travel here?
