What if everyday objects could tell stories? Let us introduce you to Nellie Jonsson (@nellie414).

Nellie Jonsson is a ceramic artist whose figurative sculptures draw inspiration from everyday life, consumer culture and personal memory. At the core of Nellie's practice is an enduring fascination with the overlooked details of daily life. Through an intuitive and material-driven approach, she transforms familiar objects into playful yet evocative ceramic works.

Working primarily with clay, Nellie creates sculptural compositions that inhabit a space between reality and fiction, where domestic scenes become carriers of memory, desire, humor and unease. Balancing tenderness with irony, her works explore how objects shape our understanding of identity, memory and belonging.

NELLIE JONSSON @nellie414
is part of »to be«
until JULY 12, 2026

Nellie Jonsson (*1992) immortalizes food and objects in clay, thereby referencing consumer culture and everyday life. She captures memories in the form of things from our lives that we don’t normally think about, yet with which we associate so much. Her works celebrate the everyday and reflect both individuality and collectively shared experiences, such as a fondness for sour pickles. The compositions of her ceramic sculptures are playful and sometimes unexpected—for instance, a few pieces of mandarin orange might find their way into an ashtray filled with cigarette butts, or a dried apple might end up on a tray alongside a set of dentures, arranged as a still life.
