I’m very behind on my to-do list and messages (will reply everyone soon i promise), but wanted to log on with it being the end of summer term (for me, at least):

I thought spring term was a whopper, but my goodness this one’s been a whopper supreme. Very intense with very long days, but sooo worth it. I have been so inspired by everyone’s work and ethic, and the classes- I think- have been incredibly constructive. COLOUR was my goal, and I tackled it with everything I had. And with that, I’ve inadvertently tackled my other point of discomfort: digital art. It’s by no means perfect or where I want it to be, but I feel I have made so much progress and am much more confident now. If I hadn’t have bit the bullet and just gone straight to paper with my oils back in April, I would have continued shying away from it.

Thank you to all my RDS friends and well done for getting through term 2 (and of course to the tutors :))

Tomorrow is the first day of my new job, so everything seems to be happening at once. My friends, I will get in touch very soon, and I look forward to what the summer brings us all.

Take care,

El x

(Edit: name change)

Everyone meet Wisp and Reg!

Absolutely over the moon with my baby budgies 🐣 their names may change as I learn their personalities, but at the moment I’m thinking Wisp (green) and Reggie (blue). They’re 6-8 weeks old brothers (July-ish 2025).

One of my regrets with my old pet rats is that I didn’t document them enough with photos and videos, and looking back I wish I had more. So, with my first birds, I’d like to make a conscious effort to do that.

I’ll make some comics documenting being a bird parent on @nellyrigg_ ✍🏻 🦜

For now, they are settling in.

I think I speak for everyone in CCC when I say we had a great time at @goshcomics last Saturday in celebration of @smallpressday 2025. Great turnout and a fun workshop, as well as the soft launch of “Figure”, a @ccc_ual ‘anthology’ (for sale at Gosh if anyone’s interested). Also the public debut of my first comic book, “Reminiscences vol.1”.
Thank you @molizane for the photographs.
Thank you everyone in CCC for a fantastic three years, it’s been a blast 💥 as they say: “farewell, not goodbye” 💛
