It’s been 4 months (aka 17 weeks) since Ollie passed. I’ve chosen to interpret all the birds, butterflies and squirrels that seem to constantly be in my path as signs from Ollie and it helps a little. I really hope there’s a place where I get to reunite with him one day. Losing Ollie (who was my baby) has really shown me who cares about me. I’ve been touched by so many people who have reached out to me and shown they care in so many different wonderful ways, and I’ve been devastated by people I thought were important in my life who haven’t even acknowledged his loss in any way to me. So I still grieve Ollie and I am grieving the loss of those relationships. Anyone else have that experience? I definitely did not expect it. And thank you to everyone who has reached out. You all helped me so much and I’m forever grateful🙏.

I was sad to hear that Nelson, one of my very first friends on Instagram, crossed the rainbow bridge 😔🌈 He was such a handsome fella 💙 His favorite hobbies were ball and swimming 🎾💦 I asked him to the #birthdaypuppyprom2023 and we had the best time 💃Even though I lost him that night 🤭 If you paw left you will see us together at prom ❤️ I know him and his brother Wallace have been reunited and they're having so much fun together 🎾💦🌈 Paw left to see them two together 💙 I love you Neslon ❤️ Run Free sweet friend 🌈

You could have been the older brother, you could have been the younger brother. Either way, you and Wallace were the best brothers. You were the best good-boy and had the personality to be everyone’s bestie. If retrieving a ball was an internationally recognized sport, you could have been the most widely recognized retriever. You might have been the first to self-retrieve (yes, he retrieved himself in the pool when there wasn’t a ball). You were such a skilled water-drummer it could have become a sub-genres. You were an Olympic-like swimmer and diver, and if Michael Phelps was a dog, he could have been you. Your motto was; BALL IS LIFE, and you both left a drawer full of them. Your snoring was so cute, it was my white noise. You and Wallace put in thousands of miles in the back of our car to go on vacation, attend beach meet-up’s, and go play with your buddies. You both swam up and down the beaches of So Cal, in the lakes of Mammoth, in the creeks of Arizona, and in many pools across 2 states. After we retired you from all physical activity and you rarely left the house you still found ways to find purpose. You were a gentleman and closed the closet door for me every morning while I was prepping your breakfast. You didn’t just want any toy, you sniffed out the perfect toy for the day. You loved barking at the courtyard. You loved to let us know there was a package outside that needed to be brought in but expected payment in the form of treats. You were a typical lab and loved all food, except for celery. You hated it. Your favorite color was green. You lived a good life!

You and Wallace were so lovable you grew an IG following so big it feels like we can travel anywhere in the world and have friends.

14 years and 6 days ago, we drove to pick up Nelson.
We didn’t want him feeling like he was going home with strangers, so naturally… we brought home his brother Wallace too.

We were not prepared for two dogs, but it turned out to be the best decision we ever made.

Fourteen years filled with wet dogs with too much energy, laughter, adventures, routines we didn’t know we needed, and a love so easy it feels unreal looking back.

Today, the tears aren’t from sadness in saying goodbye to Nelson. They’re tears of happiness for a life so full, for memories that still feel alive, and for 2 dogs who knew they were deeply loved.

We can’t keep them forever, so we accept the time we’re given… and somehow, that makes it even more beautiful.

With Nelson gone now, it feels like the #nelsonandwallace era has come to an end—but what a beautiful era it was.

Took Coop to the lake today because it’s 55 degrees and sunny. Perfect spring day. Coop misses Ollie (as do I of course) so trying to give him a good routine of walks, nature and lots of love. Wish we could celebrate in person with Wallace @nelson_wallace for his birthday but he’s a little too far away. Please wish him a Happy 14th on his page!!

For those of you that don’t know Cooper’s story, I fostered him in July of 2015 from @friendsofnorthcentralshelter , and then when he was difficult (ie snapping at people), I adopted him as I was afraid what would happen if he was adopted out. After an amazing animal behaviorist helped me, and years of taking him everywhere with Ollie, Coop eventually turned into an amazing, non snapping, friendly but still reserved dog. Fostering also helped Cooper as he got used to new dogs coming into our house and there were a few he even bonded with which was especially sweet. ♥️

Also, I think Ollie joined us today. We ran straight into a blue jay (like 2 feet away) while walking down to one cove, and we saw two butterflies chasing each other in another cove that circled around me. Anyway, I like to think it’s Ollie. And two butterflies crossed in front of us driving home♥️

Look who was all excited to see us again the other day! 😄 I think it’s safe to call her my friend now. 😉

Her older sister was there too, but she’s an einzelgänger the lady told us, and definitely was not up to hanging with us. She curiously came up to us, and then quickly left. 😅 But this little one just kept coming back! 😁 She’s fast too though!! 💨😂

When we continued the gravel path home she walked with us for a bit, and the man from the stables yelled after her “hey, remember you’re our dog right??” 🤣 Momager did say she was tempted to put her in her pocket and take her home. 😉
