Capon’s Chophouse (@caponschophouse )in Hackensack delivered a beautiful atmosphere and plenty of memorable flavors.

The Crispy Candied Bacon Nuggies were NEXT LEVEL—the sweet-and-sour glaze with pickled shallots made every bite hit. The Fritto Misto was another winner, featuring crispy calamari, shrimp, zucchini, and pickled peppers paired with a bright lemon aioli.

The Shrimp Scampi was awesome. The jumbo prawns were cooked perfectly, and the white wine, garlic, chili, parsley, and tomato sauce was the perfect pairing. The Whole Grilled Branzino was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked with sauce vierge, tomato confit, and olives.

The warm Parmesan-crusted focaccia was incredibly fresh, but the whipped ricotta dip felt like it was missing something that even the hot honey couldn’t completely cover.

The Cucumber Limoncello Spritz—made with Grey Goose Citron, limoncello, cucumber, and yuzu-lime soda—was light, amazingly refreshing, and full of flavor.

Dessert ended the experience on an elite level. The warm banana-pecan bread pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream and salted caramel was one of the highlights of the entire meal. I would return for that dessert alone!
