Winter Lights @canarywharflondon

We had the typical Instagram versus Reality experience last Saturday. The installations are amazing, and the marketing team did a great job promoting it. However, I’ve never seen that many people in Canary Wharf. My video was mostly shot on a weekday.

Visiting during the week is the best option, which is busy but really comfortable to walk around. I understand, though, that most people can only go weekends. Here’s are my top tips:

✔️You might only see five or six installations if you’re visiting on weekend. I must say there are a lot of super friendly staff around the state handing out maps and helping people find the artworks.

✔️Ideally, get familiar with the map before you visit, as artworks are spread out. It took me two hours on a weekday to see them all.

✔️I’d say get there at 4pm and stick around your favourite (s). There was a 30 minute queue to check out Anima (16 on the map) on Saturday at 6pm.

✔️If you’re serious about seeing the installations, I’d suggest having something to eat before you arrive. Take a look at a few installations before you stop for dinner. There are a lot of great options and food trucks everywhere.

✔️I don’t recommend driving there. I took 30 minutes to arrive there and another 30 minutes to park. Queue of cars entering the state wasn’t moving.

✔️Be aware that public transport will be super busy. Some of my friends said it felt like they were in a sardine tin.

✔️Wrap up warm, really warm. No joke, we wore five layers, including fleece and thermals.

✔️Have fun! The installations are awesome, one of the best I’ve seen.
