POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last night was such a great time! Thank you to @citytheatremia for the opportunity to direct one of the readings for the evening. @nerissastreet congratulations on writing such a great play and happy I got to be a part of the first iteration of "Teacher's Pet"! And these actors were acting. Each one of them made my job so easy!! Overall a great night celebrating local playwrights and artists.

Till next time.

If you only go to #artbasel to see the art you're missing the point.
Grateful for the invite from @nikilopez19 @nikilopezcreative_ to @blackgirlbasel -- which was so nourishing I skipped David Banner's event. Ran into my favorites @debjack0 @camcfarlane and met dope leaders @nadegegreen @halimatahaproarts @khaulahnaima
Sunday adventures to @artftlauderdale partner @pulseartfair where @maserati race car drivers took us into the city. Of course we ate and saw #bananas all day. The last installation I saw was the @afrika_47 #casspirproject which uses glass beads to transform former weapons of war. It refocused me, and reminded me what's most important. --
It's more than #art ---
It's #community °°°

Ain't no hater more powerful or petty than your ego when you're trying to level up.
Take some time to reflect and use the space to be real with what's holding you back.
And get help to fix it.

@brammond you crazy kid.
10 years of vision and dedication. @floridadayofthedead was fantastic. From the #ofrenda exhibit to the processional to @laurasue_silver_nightingale leading the #kazoo brigade to the arts fair where @donnahaynesstudio found my ears the perfect art AND the #secondline band (which I had to join), my heart and soul are full.
Let us all celebrate the things we lay to rest, and honor who we've become through their presence in our lives. °°°

My #screenwriting students today:
"Is this a good character name?" "My setting is stupid." "Can you check if this is a good ending?"
Nope.
It's amazing what it takes to get my Insta-loving, #content creators-in-training to calm down and be patient with the process.
What I realize now is they aren't patient with themselves. They feel pressured to display every part of their lives for public consumption and want that instant feedback. I'm not giving it. But I do give love and a push.
Meet me tomorrow at @artserveinc between 3p to 5p and I'll show you. Mention my name and get in free. Plenty of family friendly activities while you're there. °°°

Grateful that the @thefrankpembrokepines gets it. People need a safe space to figure out what works in their creative careers. Happy to bring a new perspective on an age-old issue.

The challenge?
Find a picture of yourself #speaking to remind your audience what you do.
I really don't promote my speaking enough and I appreciate the push, @blackspeakersnetwork !
And I'll be returning to #sxswedu next year for our #selfcareforteachers session!
