Here, the scale of the space shifts dramatically: a long double-height room, at the end of which, in the exact location where Patti Smith, Willie Nelson and many more once played, Devon Turnbull’s (@devonojas) commanding sculptural speaker is the focal point.⁠ ⁠ Walls and ceiling are wrapped in layered acoustic fabric developed by Kvadrat Textiles (@kvadrattextiles), behind which lies a complex Amadeus (@amadeusacoustics) speaker system. We’re proud to share Stylus (@stylusnyc) with you, captured here for this week’s Design section of The New York Times (@nytimes).⁠ ⁠ As architects and interior designers of Stylus, we designed the building end to end, from the double-height listening room on the ground floor through to the lounge and loft above. Our project for Stylus (@stylusnyc) is in this week’s Design section of the New York Times (@nytimes).⁠ ⁠ Stylus asked for a place where music is listened to properly, and our aim was a sequence of rooms that each foster a different kind of attention from its visitor. As architects we shaped the whole building around that, from the double height listening room at the ground floor to the quieter spaces above, and assembling the group who made it with us is the part we are proudest of.⁠ ⁠ Two floors up, the building goes quiet. The back wall of LIMEN LOUNGE opens onto the city with a terrace beyond it, and sculptural light horns pull daylight deep into the room. It changes with the hour, moving from morning sound meditation, through coffee and work in the afternoon, to lectures and small gatherings in the evening. It is the counterbalance to the enclosed intensity of EPHEMERAL below.⁠ ⁠ A large pivoting wall separates the lounge from THE LOFT, which can host overnight stays. Pivot the wall and the whole floor becomes one event space, with THE LOFT turning into a working test kitchen where Chef Anita Lo (@anitalonyc) runs food experiences for members.⁠ ⁠ Thank you to New York Times (@nytimes) and editor Julie Lasky (@julielaskynyc), to Steven Kurutz for such a considered piece. M.FISHER in Elle Decoration Poland. ⁠ ⁠ Honored to be featured in the pages of @elledecorationpolska a home built from stone, memory, and two hundred years of accumulated life in the Hudson Valley.⁠ ⁠ For a creator raised by a paleontologist and shaped by years of classical ballet, stone is never a static decorative material. Designing this home was a reminder of why I love working with clients who bring a strong point of view to the table. Katey and Kurt have such a distinct sense of who they are, which made the process less about creating a look and more about creating a home that felt deeply personal to them. The most rewarding part was finding the balance between all of the unexpected pieces, textures, colors, and collected objects and letting the character of the home come through. So grateful to see this project featured in @archdigest and to share a little more of the story behind it. Into the Woods 🤍 Our glass-wrapped home in the oaks is in the new issue of @luxemagazine. Twelve pages, which still doesn’t feel real. We are thrilled to announce our first hotel project, Alpine House, in Jackson, WY. @galeriemagazine has featured our hotel this week and we are so proud. Our immensely talented Interiors team, led by Robin Rathmann-Noonan, has renovated the building and created a comfortable, informal retreat that feels more like a private home than a hotel and that is truly unique.
