Wow what a night 🙏 Dreamtime in Newark: Aljira and the Making of Global Contemporary Art is open to the public at the Newark Museum of Art all the way through June 2027 🫡 Please visit this exhibition and see for yourself the fruits of labor of all dedicated participating parties, from the Museum itself, to curators Alliyah Allen and Tricia Laughlin Bloom, curatorial assistant Monisha Bernard, curatorial, collection & installation teams at the NMOA, Victor Davson and Cicely Cottingham, yours truly at The Aljira Archive Project + archivist Josie Naron and historian Mark Krasovic, the loaning artists & collecting bodies, the NMOA staff who served us delicious cherry limeades at the opening reception, and each of our individual guiding lights for this kind of strange yet embodied and necessary culture work, my continual two who are Emma Wilcox and Evonne Davis. Not to mention countless other teachers and mentors, like Fausto Sevila and JC Lenochan who were in the room and others like Bob Richardson and Kennis Fairfax who weren’t. This was work, but isn’t it great that we get to celebrate our work 🙏

In each exhibition there are different categories in which the artworks are situated, as a means of contextualizing the works. I have not finished writing the subheadings for each category. These will be updated in the coming weeks. See works by @cannupahanska @nonafaustine @newhumans And many more … My hope is for this website to be a space for making connections between the past and present with the artwork acting as a link to the future. #newwebsite #timeandmemoryproject #arteducation #phdcandidate #thepastlivesinthepresent #artistrepresentation

It's the first day of #nationalreadingmonth 📚️ which means our March exhibition, "About Books," is live today!💥 In an era of censorship and book banning, this annual campaign to encourage reading among children and adults is increasingly vital to our well-being. Our third exhibition of the year features artists working in a scintillating range of media and styles who share their personal histories and address seismic shifts in the political and literary terrain. Head the link in our bio (@notrealartworld) to see the entire show and read the curator's statement by writer and former NY gallerist Kirsten Bengtson-Lykoudis. Many thanks 🙏 and endless gratitude ❤️ to all contributing artists: Alexandra N. Sherman, Ann Silverman, Catherine Camargo, Catherine Goenner, Chris Revelle, Christopher Jagmin, Gibron Whitney Shepperd, Glynn Cartledge, JC Lenochan, Josey Seung-Ah Lee, Louise Laplante, M. McCubbins, Mackenzie Curtis, Pam Douglas, Pantea Karimi, Patty Carroll, Rachel Shelton, Rebekah Budd, Sarah Matthews, Sarah Nguyen, Saulaman Schlegel, Susanna Gaunt, and Thomas Brodhead. #nationalreadingmonth2024 #books #booklover #artistbook #zine #literature #politics #artexhibition #groupexhibition @mondo_canine @creweststudio @sourdoughpower

Dear New York, It’s been 30 days of little to no social media for me and was so inspired by art and wanted to share 19 seconds of 7 days of inspiration. _________________________Thank you for the awe inspired inspiration. What an amazing life changing, eye opening, art is life, life is art adventure. ________________________Watching artist and their hard work be rewarded in such a beautiful way, for everyone who stopped by any booth to say hello to the gallerists & artist, it was so lovely to meet you. Luis and Jay, gallerist of @luisdejesuslosangeles curated such a beautiful space and meeting one of the #goats @bisabutler at the @thearmoryshow curated by @nicb226 is one of my highlights. ________________________Here’s a nanosecond glimpse of some of the many artist who spent countless hours days months & years in 19 seconds. Support and follow and learn about some of the artist featured in this reel: @bisabutler @bundlehouse @judybowmanartist @newhumans #nathanieloliver the art, galleries, the stories and energy in New York filled me up. Thank you for the awe inspired experience. #armoryshow #armory #newyorklovers #artistsupportpost #bisa
