A huge thank you to Betinna and the team at The Exchange and Newlyn Gallery for warmly welcoming our volunteers today to explore the exhibition Caroline Walker: Mothering.

Bringing together paintings, drawings and sketches created over the past five years, alongside new works, the exhibition explores the themes of motherhood and early-years care.

Visitors may remember seeing a work by Caroline Walker in our previous exhibition at Penlee House, Making Her Mark, which will be travelling to Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum and Kirkcaldy Galleries next year.

Why not have an arty half term? Visit Penlee House, explore the exhibition, then enjoy a beautiful (and possibly rather windy!) walk along Newlyn Green to discover the exhibition at Newlyn Gallery. A perfect way to enjoy some art, fresh air and the beautiful Cornish coast this half term! 🌊

Skate Park between Newlyn and Penzance, Cornwall.
This space provides a vital outlet for young people growing up on the far south-western edge of the country. In a landscape shaped by the sea and defined by its distance from the rest of the UK, the area can feel physically and socially isolated, with limited access to the opportunities and spaces available elsewhere. Against this backdrop, the skate park becomes a place of freedom, expression and connection — where young people can come together, challenge themselves and find a sense of belonging.

20 years of Moogie Wonderland!

Today marks 20 years since Moogie Wonderland began life in a dingy cellar in Medway, Kent, as an artist-led clubnight bringing together live art, video art, miniatures, zines and installations alongside twee indiepop, French pop and library music.

Quite a lot has happened since.

Over two decades, our work has evolved through clubnights, live music, exhibitions, performance, installations, participatory live art and experimental music-making, exploring connections between art, sound, science and other disciplines.

Since moving to Cornwall, we’ve continued to develop this work through projects including the Cornwall Youth Noise Orchestra, Live Art Lab, electronic music lessons and our Laboratory for Electronic Music in Truro.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing some of the artists, projects and moments that have shaped Moogie Wonderland, and looking ahead to what might come next.

A huge thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey: artists, musicians, participants, audiences, collaborators, volunteers and supporters. You’re brilliant and we couldn’t have done it without you.

Thanks also to @aceagrams , @youthmusicuk , @medway_council_news , @cornwallcouncil , @falmouthtowncouncil , @penryncouncil , @falmouthuni and @rapidelectronics @rapideducation for supporting our work.

We’re celebrating with a special anniversary open day and open jam at our Truro laboratory on Saturday 24 October. Details to follow!

Looking ahead, we’re raising funds to develop our youth orchestra, purchase instruments and equipment, grow the laboratory and strengthen the infrastructure behind our programmes. Your support will help create more opportunities for young people and adults in Cornwall, particularly those who face barriers to taking part in the arts, connecting creative practice with wider possibilities in technology, education and future careers.

Scrappy weaving workshop coming this October half term to Penzance Exchange Gallery in the Engine Room. All materials provided to create your own loom, woven cloth and know how to turn it into a wall hanging. For little hands aged 5+ @newlynexchange tickets available next week.

🎶Voice, Rhythm & Belonging Workshop, for People of Colour aged 18+

Super honoured to be invited by artist @libitasibungu to contribute to this multi sensory extravaganza!

In the workshop we’ll explore the Afro-diasporic journey and experiences of identity, migration and belonging, using voice, rhythm, movement and creative play. Through somatically-attuned practices and approaches, we’ll clap, stomp, sing, move, and explore ways of tapping into our authentic expression, whilst accessing the body’s innate wisdom and creativity.

Who doesnt love a seascape but you have to be true to yourself and paint in your own style.
Im trying to remember to add posts every week when all I want to do is to paint. Choosing a creative life and making money isnt easy. I teach which pays for my studio and art materials. Its rewarding and means I dont become a recluse.
