I found my poetry reading from the streets of Menorca, Spain. The book was published by @newriverpress in 2023. I have low key pneumonia on the derive however I gave it a go, on my island.

That’s a wrap! ‘Shadows Majesty’ closed last week and feels like a dream already reflecting on this magical opening night 💫

With deepest gratitude to everyone who came along and to @emilyyoungsculpture for the special space @greatwesternstudios so synchronistically matched to house this work.

Shadows Majesty is only the first part of a trilogy/tripych which chronicles, non linearly, the dance of the Ego, the Self and the Soul amidst a materialistic world. Featuring a multimedia body of work including an album of poetry recorded with music, accompanied by visual art - written and created between 2015 - 2025.

A decade’s worth of work and study, this exhibition is not about teaching Shadow Work, but a living embodiment of Trauma-informed Somatic-based art therapy. Not rejecting the darkness nor glorifying the light, but understanding how psychological transformation is possible beyond trauma through the integration of both.

Here the act of creation is not mere ornament nor about producing a masterpiece, but survival and reclamation of the body.
A line drawn across a page steadies the trembling heart.
A poem whispered into the dark becomes a lantern.
A sculpture of broken fragments gathers itself into wholeness again. This is not a straight tale, not a neat narrative arc, but a constellation: grief beside grace, fragmentation beside fierce coherence, sorrow beside wild bursts of joy. Together they form a scripture of the body. May it murmur to your own hidden places, and remind you: even in the darkest corridors, there is a handhold, there is a song, there is a way through.

This poem ‘Rogue’ was recorded in 2016 with Martin Savale (Asian Dub Foundation) and performed live on the night with @wadebayliss my forever ally and catalyst on the journey of creativity 🙏

It is three years today since we lost Niall to cancer, tragically young at 55, on 29th September, the holy feast day of the Archangel’s. Niall was a wonderful man, kind, romantic, funny, hugely talented and with a poet’s soul. He led amazing psychogeographical walks. An activist and scholar, he believed in his ‘University of the Streets’, and always had time to help young writers. He will be remembered through his own words, and those of the poets that he praised and taught others about.

Rest in poetry, beauty and peace Niall. Though I imagine you still writing in another room somewhere.
Thank you for all that you gave us. We were so lucky to have you closely in our life.

Love to your sister Yvonne, brother Roddy, mother Frances and niece Dixie and your poet-family and friends.
