Maybe I’m naive. Maybe I am wasting my time. Maybe it matters. Maybe it’s futile. But I would rather go to sleep at night knowing I tried. Not every time, but as often as I had the ability to.

Conversations make change happen. Where does your mind go reading this?

🌱 What a morning with the Sustainability Professionals of Greater Chattanooga!

We had a fantastic turnout as we gathered to connect, celebrate, and recognize an exciting citywide sustainability success: composting is now available to all Chattanooga residents—FREE of cost!🎉♻️

A huge shoutout to @newterracompost and the @cityofchattanooga for making this milestone possible. We’re especially ecstatic to celebrate our SPGC members, Michael Ryan and Madison Rollings, and the incredible work happening in their departments.👏

Here’s to making sustainable choices more accessible for everyone in our community!💚

At the Main Street Farmers Market, everything on our tables, from pastured meats and fresh eggs to small-batch dairy, seasonal produce, and artisan sourdough, is grown, raised, or crafted by local farmers and producers who care deeply about quality.

Ditch the processed grocery store aisles, meet the people who grow your food, and taste the difference real local eating makes!

We are extremely proud to be a sustainable wedding venue with certification to back up our claim. In addition to the extra steps our team is dedicated to making during each wedding day, we partner with multiple businesses like @greenspacescha, @overlookedmaterials, @newterracompost & @fullcirclerefillery to maximize the ways in which we can cut down on waste as a wedding venue. We don’t do it for extra bookings, we do it to protect all the beauty that this planet gifts us💚

Do you live in one of the zones that's been participating in our curbside glass recycling and composting pilot programs? If so — our partnership with Overlooked Materials has been extended for a full year for glass recycling! For more info, head to: overlookedmaterials.com/pilot-2/

Our curbside composting program will end at the end of June. Next steps for residents currently enrolled in the compost program:
📋 June 19 | Final deadline for residents to submit any service change request
🗑️ Week of June 22 | Final curbside collection services will be performed
❎ June 30 | Curbside program officially ends

While our curbside food collection is ending, residents are encouraged to continue recycling their food scraps at our five designated recycling centers (locations can be found at chattanooga.gov)

It's been a long time coming. 5 years of blood, sweat, and tears spent on learning the ins and outs of the microbial realm. I've made a lot of compost in my day but today marks a special occasion. Today is the first day I can proudly say you can buy compost I personally made with the help of the NewTerra team at a local retail store “America's Gardens Nursery.”

I can’t express enough how grateful I am to everyone at NewTerra from the driver's, to the owners Norm and Michael for everything they do to make the position I’m in possible.

I've learned so much about composting and the roll microbes have on our soil systems most intensely from Dr. Elaine Ingham and her “Soil Food Web” course. My admiration and respect goes out to you for the path you paved in your time on earth to teach people the value and methods of composting and regenerative agriculture.

I'm thrilled to hear everyone's feedback from the results of the compost so please reach out with feedback and if you have any questions about compost, how it's made, or what makes ours so different I’d love to connect.

Thanks America's Gardens Nursery for being our first retail shop. I hope for a long relationship full of lots of compost and healthy gardens.

Happy growing.
