In this video, our co-founder and artist, @andrelo_franco, shares the creative process behind Colors of Philly, exploring digital art through color and geometric shapes. The collection is still growing, with more Pennsylvania places to come. Special thanks to @nextfab_phl for their large-format 2D printing classes and access to their creative workspace. Philly, you showed up❤️ 82 events across the city, from a fashion show in the SEPTA concourse to woodworking workshops, brewery conversations about modern waterproofing showrooms opening, a 30+ vendor market, and behind-the-scenes tours of a steel factory. That’s DESIGN REVOLUTION in action. A huge thank you to the sponsors, attendees, vendors, volunteers, and local partners who made it happen. And a special thank you to Forman Arts Initiative for opening your doors and helping us kick off the festival in such a special way. What makes this festival special is the people behind it. The makers, the designers, the curious neighbors, the small businesses, and everyone who believes Philly is a place where good ideas and good design can take root. That’s the power of this community. Thanks for being part of it.

i’m delighted to present “entwine” - a set of two contour panels featuring entirely 1” wide segments. this complex material interaction creates a woven aesthetic that turns the wooden medium into a softer entwined blanket of texture. each panel is 17” x 69” I’m proud to say this set has been accepted into the @wayne_art_center juried “CraftForms 2026” contemporary craft show opening Dec 5th. dm to inquire 📸: @cal.blac

Less than a month left to apply to the Winter Resiedncy with Nextfab and the Musuem for Art in Wood! The Winter Residency Program is a a 2-month long Wood centered residency that runs from January to March of 2027, and is oriented towards artists and designers based in the greater Philadelphia region, who hold a commitment to environmental stewardship and are pursuing research-based inquiries into a sustainable creative practice. The Winter Residency Program is a collaboration between the Museum and membership-based maker space @nextfab_phl. Each year, the two organizations assemble a jury of makers and educators to award one fellowship to an artist in the region who works either solely in wood or with other materials in combination with wood and demonstrates technical proficiency with woodworking equipment. The fellow receives a stipend for project materials and access to NextFab’s workshop space. Reflecting the Museum and NextFab’s support of environmental stewardship, reclaimed wood must comprise at least 50 percent of the fellow’s work during the residency. The Residency runs from January 4 through March 4, 2026, and culminates in a solo exhibition at NextFab Maker Space. Application deadline: October 26, 2026 Jury results, notification by email: Week of November 16, 2026 See our website for more information, or follow the link in our bio. . . . #winterresidency #woodworking #seekingartists #opencall #opencallforartists #exhibition #philadelphia #philly #art #artist #museumforartinwood #wood #woodworking #crafts #craft #design #event #phillyevent #nextfab #greenwoodworking #fyp #explore #renewable #reclaimedwood

Trust us, you’ll want your sound on for this one. 🔊 In the next part of our series following Museum Exhibit Specialist & Preparator Xander Karkruff as she makes a custom mount for a button mold now on view in the Museum’s core galleries, we headed to @nextfab_phl to cut the brass pieces and meld them together in a process called soldering – and using a blowtorch! (Don’t try this at home.)

The gloomy weather has been a huge bummer, but reminiscing on our incredible Saturday spent with @phonk215 @esholts is lifting our spirits! On Saturday Sept 19th, the Leeway staff joined our Leeway x @nextfab_phl art + technology artist in residence, Elaine Smith for her culminating parade event! It was a beautiful afternoon of cultural exchange and celebration! 🥳 We are so grateful to be a part of @esholts journey and discovery of how to make parade culture more physically accessible! Take us back to a Saturday with @phonk215 @jubileeschool4211 @ficaphillycapoeira and @iglesiasgardens please!
