Staying Home… 🪓🪓🪓🪓

I’m extremely excited and grateful to announce that I have committed to continue my academic and athletic career at Rutgers University!

I would like to thank all the coaches along the way especially Nick Speakman, Matt Woods and the entire Pro Skill family.

Most importantly, I want to thank my parents for always being there for me through all the ups and downs. None of this would have been possible without their support, sacrifices, and belief in me throughout this journey.

Lastly, I want to thank the entire Rutgers Baseball coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. Especially, Coach Owens, Coach Garza, and Coach Bethea for welcoming me into the Rutgers Baseball family.

Go Scarlet Knights! 🪓🪓

Let’s cut to the chase: Traditional rehab exercises aren’t enough for an athlete.

If you want to see real progress, you need to implement and integrate functional movements.

I like to call these “shapes”—human positions that mirror the ones necessary for your sport.

In the rehab setting, it’s about creating and owning these shapes.

Learning to control them is the difference between a full recovery and lingering issues.

Stop wasting time with movements that don’t translate to real-life activities or sports.

It’s time to get real about rehab.

Functional movements aren’t just a trend; they’re essential for developing strength, control, and stability that actually matter in your recovery and performance.

Get in the gym, create those shapes, and own them.

Push the limits and redefine your rehab process.

I think we need to change health in baseball players.

As physical therapists, we have a responsibility to prioritize arm health and overall body care for youth and high school baseball players.

In-season strength training is crucial for maintaining performance and preventing injuries.

It’s not just about building muscle but maintaining the strength needed to support the body during games.

Eccentric control is key, especially in the shoulder and the entire posterior oblique sling.

This helps manage the forces that act on the arm and body during pitching, reducing the risk of injury.

🚫 Don’t neglect strength training during the season!

Keeping athletes strong and resilient is vital for their long-term health and performance.

And let’s talk about pre-throw routines.

Band work before throwing? It’s not always the best option. Instead, focus on proper warm-ups that prepare the body without causing fatigue before athletes even start pitching.

High re-tear rates show we need better rehab and training programs tailored to the demands of the sport, not just what looks cool.

Let’s prioritize substance over style and ensure our young athletes get the care they need to perform safely and effectively.

Baseball’s evolution demands more from its athletes.

Spring training isn’t just a call to the field; it’s a wake-up call to every player—pro, college, youth. The old-school arm care? It’s obsolete.

Forget the days of mindless band routines. Arm care is revolutionized, demanding a total body approach. It’s time to shatter the norms.

Hip mobility, thoracic spine flexibility, rotator cuff strength—these aren’t optional; they’re essential.

The conventional arm care methods? They belong in the past.

Mobility and resistance work across all ranges of motion isn’t just advice; it’s an imperative.

If you’re not incorporating comprehensive exercises, you’re playing yesterday’s game.

Hip mobility, thoracic spine flexibility, rotator cuff strength—these are not mere suggestions; they are the pillars of effective treatment.

Let’s challenge the status quo. Elevate the routine beyond the traditional. Push your practices beyond the conventional.

True arm care extends far beyond the arm—it starts with a comprehensive understanding of the body.

Arm care for overhead athletes is much more than just a few band exercises 💪. We need to understand that true arm care is a comprehensive regimen tailored to the individual needs of each athlete.

It’s about understanding the intricate mechanics of each movement, the unique demands placed on an athlete’s arm, and addressing these with precision and expertise.

Our approach needs to integrate strength training, mobility work, and functional exercises, ensuring every aspect of arm health is covered.

Proper arm care is essential for peak performance and longevity in any sport. It’s about creating a sustainable, effective routine that goes beyond the basics, ensuring athletes are not just prepared but primed for their best performance. 🚀
