Yesterday I completed my teacher training with Stewji, which means I’m now officially a certified 500HR teacher… though honestly, if we’re counting all the hours spent on trainings, practising, studying, questioning, unlearning, relearning, and generally obsessing, it’s probably a fair bit more than that. Maybe not quite the 10,000 hours Stew would insist on… but we’re getting there!

This year was hard. Really hard.

Monthly trips to London, stepping into new rooms with new people (my personal idea of hell, if I’m honest), endless study, essays, written exams, practical assessments, uncertainty, change, and all the things my brain doesn’t naturally love. Add in an autistic burn out when I returned from India last month - there were definitely moments I wondered if I’d make it to the end.

But yesterday, I graduated, alongside the most beautiful group of humans. People from completely different walks of life, all brought together by practice, discipline, devotion, and something bigger than ourselves. Sharing that finish line with them made it all feel even more special.

I passed the written exam I was convinced I’d failed. I somehow made it through the practical assessment, which felt like a full out-of-body experience, words leaving my mouth before my brain had chance to catch them. I rewrote essays more times than I’d like to admit (thank you, Stewji for your patience), and completed what felt like hundreds of hours of japa mantra… in the car, at home, probably in my sleep too. (Sorry, @kleanthousadonis !).

But the biggest takeaway isn’t the certificate, or the title, or the hours.

It’s the knowing. Knowing I’m on the right path. With the right teacher. Doing the work I’m supposed to be doing.

This journey isn’t over. It’s only just begun 🤍
