As I approach four (!!!) years of Oh Hi Amber coming up next month, I’ve had so many extra little moments of appreciation for the work I get to do every day, and the people I get to work with along the way. Getting to work with the @canadabeercup is one of them. Last night I helped give out awards to the best beer in Canada, leading the packaging category team. This morning I shared the stage at the Alberta Craft Brewing Convention with the incredible @niceoneyyc @brandingforbreweries and @wildbuckadams, where chatted about the packaging winners, marketing, and why it’s so important for the craft beer industry. Thank you so much to @albertabrewers for the invite, and @christinecomeau and @hilaryhoogsteen.beer for being my in-audience cheerleaders.

Areto: Brand Strategy, Identity, Website & Marketing Tools Areto is a responsible AI content moderation platform helping organizations create safer digital spaces by stopping harm, protecting communities, and reducing moderation workload for teams. As the company evolved, its brand no longer reflected the scale of its vision. Working alongside Jill Dewes at Nice One and the Areto Labs team, we helped reposition Areto as more than a technology platform, uncovering a story rooted in protection, advocacy, and creating healthier environments for people stepping into public-facing roles. Through research, strategy, messaging, visual identity development, and a new website, we created a brand that better communicates what Areto stands for and the value it delivers to organizations and their communities. A key element of the identity system is the hexagonal “O” within the logo, which represents a three-second pause where harm is interrupted. The symbol reflects both protection and the speed at which the platform helps safeguard healthy, respectful conversation online. Project Scope • Brand Strategy + Research • Brand Identity • Website • Marketing Collateral The result is a clearer, more confident brand presence, a 107% increase in organic website traffic, and a strong foundation for future growth. View the full case study on the website.

When we added packaging categories to the Canada Beer Cup in 2024, it wasn't just about bragging rights. Brand, labels and packaging not only form an identity, but they tell a story – and so much time and love is invested into them. What's not to celebrate about that?! So much like the high calibre team you saw the other day, that's so passionate about tasting your beer – we recruited a team of packaging judges that are some of the best in their field across Canada and the world. Scroll through to see some of our packaging judge panelists! It's not too late to get early bird pricing for your packaging entries! Enter for a single design, a series, or a community collaboration - all three can be found following beer and cider categories on BAP.

Sometimes being “helpful” is just control in disguise. When you solve every problem, you take away the chance for others to learn, fail, and grow. Leadership is stepping back, not stepping in. Listen on YouTube, Spotify and all your favorite podcast platforms.

It’s December 1, and as we approach the holiday season – a time when stress, isolation, and risk can escalate – we’re asking our community to help spread the word about Under3, a secure, Calgary-built web tool that helps women discreetly document patterns of domestic abuse.  Under3 is free to use at under3.ca (http://under3.ca/) It transforms entries into simple bar graphs that reveal the frequency and types of abuse over time – turning scattered, painful moments into an undeniable pattern. Because what looks like data is often lived truth. IMPORTANT: If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. For help in Calgary, the Domestic Violence and Abuse Helpline is also available 24/7 at 403-234-SAFE (7233). #Under3 #SpreadTheWord #DomesticViolenceAwareness #Calgary #NotAlone

🍦❄️ HOPSICLE ❄️🍦 Chill out: the most audacious ice pop of the season is here, and it’s definitely for the grown-ups. Hopsicle (6%) is a Frozen Fresh Hop IPA that finally makes the freezer section interesting. This collab with Last Best and Bale Breaker Brewing throws tradition in the snowbank, using cryogenically frozen fresh hops to lock in that vibrant, punchy hop character the second it’s harvested. The result is a brilliantly juicy and aromatic IPA with notes of tropical fruit and citrus peel, all wrapped up in a package so nostalgically cool, you’ll want to rip the label off with your teeth. Stop looking for a brain freeze and start looking for a buzz.
