Acting Director Mr. Nixon Dickenson proudly represented the Department of Youth Affairs as a panelist at the Human Rights Commission’s Voices for Rights Community Dialogue, held in recognition of International Human Rights Day. Centered on the theme “Building Safer Communities: Human Rights, Justice Reform, and the Fight Against Gun Violence in the Turks and Caicos Islands,” the discussion brought together key stakeholders to examine current challenges and explore opportunities for strengthening community safety. The consolidated, multi-sector dialogue provided a holistic perspective on improving justice processes and addressing the underlying drivers of violence across the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Department of Youth Affairs extends its sincere appreciation to the Turks and Caicos Islands Human Rights Commission for inviting us to participate in this vital national conversation. We remain committed to advocating for the voices of young people and supporting collaborative efforts that advance safety, justice, and human rights for all.

Today I had the honour of representing the Department of Rehabilitation and Community Supervision @drcs.tci at the Human Rights Commission’s @tcihrc panel discussion under the theme: “Building Safer Communities: Human Rights, Justice Reform and the Fight Against Gun Violence.” This national dialogue was a crucial reminder that the safety we build today is shaped by the conversations we are brave enough to have. The work of justice reform is not just policy it is humanity in action. In every community, every story, and every struggle, one truth stands firm. Every human being deserves a chance to rise again. Too often, people are denied the opportunity to rebuild, yet human rights demand that dignity, fairness, and hope extend to all. Congratulations to the Human Rights Commission for leading such a powerful initiative and for reaffirming that real progress begins when we honour the humanity in each other. . . . . #AndyMissick #HumanRights #JusticeReform #SecondChances #CommunitySafety #BestIsYetToCome
