If the #UK ever needed a time for trade and business evangelism - it would be now ! I sit on the Private sector council for the @greatcampaign - led by @ewanventers and alongside the chief executives and chairmen of the @bbc @british_airways @hsbc @nationaltheatre @britishfashioncouncil @foundersforum @premierleague & others - and it is an honour to represent the technology, creative and business sectors in my work with @openended.design & my other initiatives.

We traveled to Los Angeles with the country’s largest ever trade delegation to join leaders in tech and business from the UK and US including the amazing Mira Murati @_iraurati from @thinkingmachineslabcorp James Manyika from @google Sir Lucian Grange from @universalmusicgroup Sir Gareth Southgate, @simoncowell Sir @paulsmith and many others.

I hosted a session with Thomas Heatherwick @officialheatherwickstudio about his upcoming football stadium for Birmingham City @bcfc @bcfcwomen with Knighthead Capital Mgmt and @tombrady about long term investment and placemaking around sports and community and urban regeneration.

We were hosted by the new and brilliant ambassador to the U.S Sir Christian Turner @foreignanddevelopmentoffice and his team of counsels and trade representatives.

Thanks to the UK Deparment of Business Trade led by @rups and @dcmsgovuk with Susanna Story and a really impressive and thoughtful Secretary of culture and sports #LisaNandy who I thought was awesome ! Amazing music by @alexleroux1 and his team. And the entire team at @greatcampaign led by @ktaylos and @louise.oflynn @clarebarnfather

in all an important trip but one of many conversations and hopefully deals to come on how to expand our economic footprint and to get a good dose of American positivity and optimism!

Oh also lucky me to find @ibrahim__k11 who just graduated from @uscedu

Plenty of famous faces rocked up to our Roundhouse (@roundhouseldn) Rise Up Gala in London last night.

Our biennial Gala raises funds to support our vibrant youth programme for 11-30 year olds and last night’s event was our biggest ever, raising £1.4 million for the charity.

Hosted by @adeadepitan, guests were treated to an unforgettable evening of performances from @gabrielleaplin, @officialrickastley, @kimwildeofficial, @iamchanelhaynes and @sharleenspiteri.

What made the night truly special was seeing these artists share the stage with the incredible alumni from our youth programme: singer @binaofficial, poet @bradleytaylorpoet and current Roundhouse Resident Artist @theyazminism.

Every pound raised will go directly towards creating high-quality, affordable creative opportunities for young people across London.

It takes a village but @sohotheatre Walthamstow is now open and it’s glorious ✨

A timely opening as Soho Theatre just celebrated its 25th anniversary – here’s to another 25 years!

Magic on the stage always has support behind the scenes. A long campaign by so many, big support from @lbwalthamforest and the local community, a brilliant vision and commitment from Soho Theatre has transformed the old Granada cinema to this very special stage platforming artists from London and beyond.

Also, a great success story for London Borough of Culture, which the @mayorofldn and I launched in 2017 to showcase the creativity and talent across our boroughs

@lbwalthamforest wore the crown in 2019 and the venue’s revival is part of the council’s legacy commitment to place culture at the heart of its communities ❤️

One of the many exciting new openings in London this year. There’s something for everyone - comedy, theatre and even a pantomime (oh yes there is!). Plus, loads of workshops for young people and the local community.
