Apparently there's a big football match on? We've been kicking goals at the shared writing desk instead (and scoffing my scones!) Thanks @coralvass @nicky_johnston and @becksmuse for your company. And Kylie too ... of course we stopped to watch her on the telly at the 'G!

Book Week always brings such beautiful conversations, and this year was no exception. Two books in particular were Under the Same Sky and The Voyage. The children found so many moments they could relate to, and it was wonderful hearing their thoughts, connections and reflections as we shared these stories together.

It also brought me back to these beautiful prints, gifted to me by the incredibly talented illustrators @nicky_johnston and Andrea Edmonds.

I feel so fortunate to have these special pieces, and even more fortunate to have the memories and moments that sit behind them. Books have a beautiful way of connecting us to each other, to experiences, and to people we are lucky enough to meet along the way ❤️ @newfrontierpublishing @newfrontierpublishinguk @ekbooksforkids

I was deeply moved by a quiet moment during Book Week. A teacher walked in with two copies of Under the Same Sky and, rather than interrupting the session, waited patiently until it was over. She had brought the books for two children who were away and wanted them signed by me. It was such a simple gesture, but it touched me deeply. These are the moments I treasure most as an author. Beyond the books, the talks and the celebrations, it’s the connection with a child that makes it all worthwhile. I left the day feeling incredibly grateful and very, very happy ❤️ @nicky_johnston @newfrontierpublishing @newfrontierpublishinguk

On a grey and cold Melbourne school night, so much brightness, friendship, laughs and stories were shared with the talented @zannilouise and @tony_flowers99 last night @readingskids in Carlton. Their book really is a beautiful reminder of how important YOUR own communities are, no matter where or how you find them. Last night I felt very grateful to be a tiny part of this wonderful Kidlit community, surrounded by such warm and welcoming people to celebrate this stunning book. Thank you @walkerbooksaus for@bring this book into our communities. That I now have an original Tony Flowers giraffe in my book is awesome!! Was happy to “pap” the group shot, should have grabbed a cupcake and ALWAYS love a cameo appearance on my photo roll 😂😉 @adamwallacestuff @nicky_johnston

A lovely thing about being in a community is how sharing moments and milestones can turn into such celebrations! Hurrah @zannilouise and @tony_flowers99 on being celebrated by the Kidlit crew for your new book Community last night at @readingskids.

Good things happen when you gather as a community. Congratulations to @zannilouise and @tony_flowers99 on the launch of a stunning picture book that gathers young readers to the page and encourages conversations around connection, conversion, contribution and the beauty of belonging.

This is a book about what you can be a part of, and how we can all find our place and people in communities.

I'm all for community and finding ways to give and gather, and feel this book is one of the balms we need right now.

As was last night as so many Kidlit folks gathered at @readingskids to celebrate these talented two and TWO of Zanni's books released into the wilds.

Thanks @readingskids for hosting us all!

This is Australia. Dim's days on the road - Day Five: Unscheduled comfort stops by the side of the road, with onlookers ... phenomenal outback schools, back-to-back sessions at The School of Distance Education in Charleville connecting with kids around Oz AND around the world. Honestly so much more interactive than a regular old Zoom lesson! Absolutely loving this outback gig. So much fun and so well received. 🤗🤗🤗

Zbohom, Bodka
(Devon Sillett, ilustrácie: Nicky Johnston, 2019)
Preklad: Mária Lachkovičová, Slová, 2024

5⭐/5⭐

❓Už ste sa museli niekedy vyrovnať so stratou svojho zvieratka?

Štvornohí miláčikovia sú súčasťou mnohých rodín. Malá Olívia má svoju superhrdinskú parťáčku v sučke Bodke. Jedného dňa jej mama oznámi, že aj superhrdinovia musia raz ísť do výslužby. A nakoniec Bodka odišla navždy. Olívia je smutná
a nevie sa vyrovnať so stratou.
