POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I have been wanting to write this post all weekend.
But I forced myself to pause. Slow down a little. And rest.

Last Thursday was the launch of Wild Voices with over 40 special guests coming together to watch the first of the seasons Wild Voices : Stories from a modern explorer.

Where we have a conversation, film, visual, in a way that makes everyone feel human , inspired and can connect to. Afterwards we headed to the Poly cafe which is always encouraged even if just for an hour in the Library room where we discussed further. I think that is where the magic continues. Hearing so many connections, stories and inspiration and members say how amazing and inspiring the evening was.

Next :

November @marinebiologylife Emily MBE & Daniel join me on stage where I will host their beautiful work on Ocean Conservation. This amazing duo have not only supported our oceans locally. But are fully immersed in deep sea shark research, even the incredible Arctic Expedition research ships. So much this power duo can share with their kindness and inspiring attitude to our Ocean and Emily's debut Book.

🎟️ Live. December Explorer @robinhanburytenison OBE, DL, Dsc, Dhc, MA, FLS, FRGS and Louella Tenison will join for an end of year special. Where a % of Tickets £250 will go directly to the Rainforest Research Station Trust @cabillacornwall .This is something hope to do twice a season as Wild Voices grows, giving back to our community. Including Robins books & James art. Can we fill the Theatre ?

January @themolarexplorer Cat Burford is joining me on stage where she will talk about the amazing @girls_trip26 in Svalbard and her solo expeditions in the South Pole.

February is going to be exciting as I plan to have a valentine's special of a few shorter stories from inspiring humans in our community.

March the incredible @isaac_kenyon FRGS has turned mental health into a focus for good. Adventure into a focus for sustainability and is an exceptional friend and speaker to inspire. I can't wait share more.

End of 1st season April Speaker coming soon.

I will share my reflections on the next post.

This time last year I was making the final route plans for my journey. My first expedition walking the three islands Approximately 130 miles / 210km around or through a route planned to walk me around the three islands of Malta.

And I've just realised 8th October when I speak at @polyfalmouth ticket links in bio was the day before I finished this time last year and I was texting my parents saying Mum and Dad I made it , I did it.

I called this walk , Walking at a Human Pace. And I can't wait to share personal video footage and Photos of the real beauty of Malta.

A land that teaches you when you allow it to slow down. To celebrate past trauma. To find connections with locals. Wise elders. Look up more. Observe nature, lizards , flora and fauna, scale cliff tops and only just dodge being struck by lightning. Never have I grabbed a stranger for a hug so quickly. Embracing the simplicity in life and what walking from A to B each day teaches us.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

There will be an informal gathering after where you can meet and grab a coffee or drink from the @polycafeandbar to celebrate the launch of a monthly series of Wild Voices : Stories from The Modern Explorer

New Blog live from the amazing @tiny.gatherings @nicol.eah so worth a read, head over to E3coach.com and head to blogs.

“Last year I navigated the peak of constant loss, grief, and the aftermath of escaping an emotionally abusive relationship.

Prior to this, my knee swelled and I was diagnosed with reactive arthritis. The dull, constant pain meant that as a grown adult I was attempting to walk down a hill holding onto my mum’s arm, feeling as though I had aged sixty years. Getting up from the floor was impossible without help. At one stage, I wondered if this was my future self.

Fast forward to ten days hiking the landscape of my ancestors Malta, Gozo and Comino.

But the expedition didn’t begin when I landed on the island.”

Looking back at these images from the expedition feels like remembering another world.

Life was simple out there just walking from A to B. That was the only task.

And somehow, whatever the day threw, I knew I always made it through.

Long miles. Late evenings. Persistence that never wavered on this particular day.

Carrying the responsibility for an incredible team, knowing one wrong turn from me could set us back but trusting ourselves anyway.

And the views… the raw elements… days that felt bigger than words.

Next week we record the narration for the expedition short film, and I can’t wait to relive it all through the footage again.

Mixja : Walking at a Human Pace

125.84 miles, 202.52 kilometres across 12 days

I have finally totalled my miles from this Autumn expedition. And with imposter syndrome I initially thought many walk far more. Until on the TV a presenter was talking about another person's walk or the same distance and saying how much that is. Then I realised this is the equivalent of just under 5 marathons. Now I don't have imposter syndrome. Now I realise that is a huge distance and I did that.

Next in the series to share from this year's Autumn Malta Expedition by @colinherberthowell

Stepping onto my land of heritage, stoke formed thousands of years ago. The added psychological that my knees didn't allow me at one stage plus the how far I've come in celebration.

But the land it has a story. The rocks form images like waves cascading over me. Like a giant playground of bouldering stones. Freedom. Simply putting one foot in front of the other. Seeing more of these islands that could ever be possible. Connecting with locals where they are in their final decades. Those special people that are the last to share how it was , how life used to be, the simple ways.

Thank you to everyone that made this happen you all know who you are. There is so much going on behind the scenes these winter months and upto February next year. Preparing for a year ahead of submissions that will share our islands. British Mediterranean Herritage and celebrating those who can overcome adversity.
