✨Space Week at Nido🚀👩‍🚀🪐

Our Kindergarten children explored the wonders of space, discovering fascinating planets, stars and the mysteries of the universe🌎💫 They also had lots of fun with an exciting volcano experiment🌋

Through play-based and intentional learning experiences, our children used their creativity, imagination and curiosity to explore the world beyond our own and discover the magic of space. 🚀✨

What an incredible adventure it has been! 🌙💫

Is play‑based learning the same across Steiner, Montessori and Reggio Emilia?
We asked Nadia - Director of Education and Quality at @nidoearlyschool.

Her answer? The path to get there might look different… but the destination is always the same.
Why? Because every centre is bound by the Early Years Framework,

So when it comes to choosing childcare - the philosophy isn’t everything. Look at the centre. Look at the educators. Look at the vibe.

Is play‑based learning even a thing for babies at childcare, or are we all secretly stressing about whether our six‑month‑olds need a “program” when they’re still figuring out where their toes are?

Nadia from @nidoearlyschool set us straight in the best possible way: relationships always come first. Full stop.
But that doesn't mean babies aren't learning the whole time; they absolutely are.

Ever wondered whether the play your child does at home (Barbies, Lego, mud kitchen “cafés”) stacks up against the play they get up to at childcare?

Nadia from @nidoearlyschool says the secret isn’t choosing one over the other; it’s understanding the balance between the three types of play children need:

1️⃣ Free play: your child leads the way (like choosing their own games, stories or setups).
2️⃣ Play‑based learning: An educator‑guided moment aiming to work towards a learning goal (sorting blocks by colour or size).
3️⃣ Intentional play: the important skills children need, taught in a playful way (e.g. hand‑washing taught with songs and fun dances).

Quality play VS home play, is there a difference? According to Nadia from @nidoearlyschool, all play matters, whether it's playing with toys at home or block building at childcare.

What ACTUALLY makes the difference is having a balance of different types of play across the day, not just one kind on repeat.

Want to know the 3 x key types she breaks it down into? That's exactly what we get into in the full episode.
