This new series will feature conversations with Iranian women both in the diaspora and inside Iran, sharing their stories, journeys, ambitions and experiences in the hope of inspiring others. From creatives to founders, artists to activists, each interview will explore what it means to navigate identity, womanhood and ambition across different corners of the world.

This is the next chapter of @zanaee.world . After hosting live interviews and conversations, we wanted to create something more approachable and more accessible to a wider audience.

So we decided to launch a podcast. A space for honest conversations, powerful stories and inspiring voices. A space to connect, uplift and inspire the next generation.

This month marks International Women’s Day on 8th March, celebrating the social, economic and cultural achievements of women while building momentum for gender equality.
Women’s wealth is rising fast, but the systems around it have not caught up. And much of what holds them back never makes it into official statistics.

Women do more than half of the world’s work, and nearly half of it goes unpaid. This is what that looks like in numbers:

∙ Women and girls carry out 12.5 billion hours of unpaid care work every day. Valued at minimum wage, that contribution would be worth at least $10.8 trillion annually, more than three times the size of the global tech industry. (Oxfam)
∙ An estimated 708 million women are outside the labour force entirely because of unpaid care responsibilities, compared to just 40 million men. (ILO, 2024)
∙ Men own an estimated US $105 trillion more wealth than women globally, more than four times the size of the entire US economy. (Oxfam, 2024)
∙ In Great Britain, there is virtually no gender wealth gap in people’s 20s, but by ages 60 to 69, women hold around 23% less wealth than men. (Women’s Budget Group, 2019)
∙ In the UK, 67% of women do not invest at all, compared with 56% of men. (HSBC UK, 2023)
∙ Globally, only one in three adults is financially literate, and women consistently score lower than men across countries. (GFLEC)
The wealth gap is not a mystery. It is an accounting problem.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we have gathered the words that have stayed with us: honest, sharp, hard-earned insights from every woman we have had the privilege of interviewing. These are the voices of founders, creatives, doctors, designers and dreamers. Read them slowly.

For 14 days now, the people of Iran have been on the streets.
What began as demonstrations over the collapse of the currency has turned into a fight for freedom, and a stand against the regime, a revolution!!!
From afar, we watch, we worry, we refresh our phones, we wait.

Like so many Iranians in the diaspora, my heart is there. I’ve been glued to my phone, speaking constantly with friends across the diaspora, sharing fragments of news, fear, and hope.
Not being able to speak to my own mother in Tehran for the past 2 days is nerve wracking. Even knowing she is safe at home, the silence is heavy.
It’s a quiet anxiety…

What always leaves me in awe is the people!
Women and men who step into the streets day after day, despite fear, despite violence, despite knowing how ruthless the repression can be.

Their resilience, their strength, their refusal to give up, it’s impossible to fully put into words.
I am endlessly proud of them.

And thank you to those who have checked in, or simply sent love in their own way. It’s felt, and it truly means more than you know 💚🤍❤️
