POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

September was rough but I also had some very good moments.

I remain committed to building a book community rooted in my values and ethics, one where diverse stories are celebrated, authors feel supported, and readers find genuine connection. At Imaginarium, I know @diantha_jones and @nadegerichards share this commitment. Their care for authors and readers shows in every part of the festival.

I have had the incredible opportunity to attend Imaginarium for the past four years, and I look forward to returning every year. Last year, I had the privilege of attending as press. As someone who has hosted many panels and events and moderated author discussions, interviewing authors at Imaginarium this year and hearing about the inspiration behind their characters and worlds was a next-level experience.

Capturing community, new friendships, and lasting memories in real time brought me so much joy. I think about Imaginarium all year long because this festival shows what happens when people gather around a shared love of stories and a commitment to creating space for one another.

Tickets go on sale in a little over a week, and I hope I get to return next year and experience all of this again.

@imaginariumbookfestival still feels like a ✨D R E A M ✨

When I say everyone was so friendly I legit mean EVERYONE!!! I wish I could go back and be more brave and step outside of my tiny little box. Maybe next year ? I met so many incredible people in the line (mind you they weren't long at all)! Loved everything about my experience 🥰🥰

Happy Wednesday, my froomies and friends 🐸🍄! Hope all is well! For me, it has been a very hoppy/get up and go sort of day, which was actually marvelous.
Something about spontaneity really boosts the mood sometimes!

Wellness check!

I am doing great, actually. Welcoming in the new moon and doing some reading! One that I adored and, could not stop listening to and ended up finishing in one day, was You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson.

This book was a hug to my younger self. As a Black queer kid who had their HS years in the Midwest (I also moved a lot but the last years of my schooling were in the Midwest) this book was healing. Putting it on my March hopefuls list, and at the endorsement of my bestie @nikas_booknook, it was such a treat and a must read. Between this and Weirdo by Tony Weaver Jr, it is really cementing my desire to keep whimsy apart of my life.

I hope you are also doing well and what are you reading?

Why am I like this? Goes to signing, gets excited to see friends. Takes zero fucking pictures 😂 For future reference- please force me to take pictures.

I had so much fun at @sinnersandstardustball in NOLA and was blessed to spend time with so many awesome folks pictured here and not (@authorlucysmoke @brynne_weaver @hm.wolfe @thebibliophileblonde @t.c.kravenauthor @jemlin_c @lemonade_doodles and more!)

The signing itself was so organized, the volunteers were wonderful, and @jobrennerbooks was good at following directions so her table setup/breakdown was easy as pie 🤣

Long Caption Alert:

It’s been 3 days and I still don’t even know where to begin! This past weekend at BookHarvest was literally one for the books! I’m so sad it’s over. What do you do when the in person vibes far exceed the online vibes? How do you recover? 😭

@evelynleighauthor phew! Who would have known that posting a story on my little baby acct with my little baby review for Elevator Pitch would have lead us here? It really does feel like we’ve known each other for fifty-eleven years, but that’s how you know it’s real! I love and adore you so much! 🫶🏼🥰 Thank you for the opportunity to assist you! It was a weekend full of laughter, shenanigans, and slanging books! I’m counting down the days until the next one! I miss you already! 😭

@thecynrodriguez & @kath_richards_writes: I’m literally so obsessed with yall and I’m so thankful to have met you! I knew we would have an amazing time we did exactly that! I love yall and miss you already!

🩷The Slumber Party is EVERYTHING! 🩷

@reggie.reads & @bookclubfor_one: My partners in crime and shenanigans... There was NEVER a dull moment with yall and clownin with you made the craziness of the signing exponentially better! Love you both! #NotEvelyn #mycartiskarma or whatever Chappell said!

I met some amazing new bookish friends and finally got to show some in-person love to some of my online faves! I brought home a lot of pretty books, even though my cart clocked out early on me 🥴 The audacity of a broken wheel!

Until next time!
