To me, being a great equestrian doesn’t mean being the best at one discipline. In fact, being “the best” is pretty damn near impossible because that’s not how horses work. Every equestrian, no matter what level, is still a student of these magnificent creatures. My goal in this life is to explore many different disciplines and if I can’t actually participate in them, give them respect and have an understanding for them. Horses are so dynamic and serve so many purposes on this earth. From the fanciest show jumping horses, to the wildest mustang, or the flashiest Arabian stallion, to the oldest lesson pony at the stable. They are all so special and have massive lessons to teach us humans. All that being said- I have recently gotten back into jumping! I grew up doing hunter/jumpers, it’s where I got my start. At around age 11, I got into polo, did both for a while, and then focused my sights mainly on polo. And while polo will always be my number one, I have missed jumping. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sailing over a fence, or hearing you number called for a ribbon in the show ring. My goal is to show again- and to have my own jumper horse (along with my string of polo ponies 😁). I have been working with the amazing @nikjaec, my trainer, and her lovely horses. With her excellent guidance, I am slowly but surely relearning things about this sport and getting my footing. I’m sharing some videos/pictures of my lessons thus far (started back in February!). I obviously have a lot more to learn and a lot more to work on, but the MOST important thing is that I’ve been having SO much FUN. And that’s what riding horses should be- fun. It’s easy to forget that, but it’s an absolute gift to be an equestrian. See you all on the polo field AND in the show ring! 🥰 #hunterjumpers #equestrian #equestrienne #horsesofinstagram
