More than just football. 🇸🇸❤️

From the first whistle to the final handshake, the energy on the pitch was unmatched — players giving everything for their teams, families and friends cheering from the sidelines, and a community coming together to celebrate the game we all love.
This is what the tournament is all about — brotherhood, pride, and passion for the beautiful game.

See you on Saturday, Same energy, same love.

Happy Independence Day, South Sudan!🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸🇸

This collage is a celebration of what our people have built across the world. On global stages, in sport, TV, fashion, music, and activism. Carrying the weight of a country still healing and still showing up.

At Nilöu Foundation we work with South Sudanese people every day who carry that same energy. People pursuing education, rebuilding their lives, and contributing to the world around them.

No person’s potential should be decided by the displacement they have experienced. Their story is not finished.

To every South Sudanese person building something from wherever they are in the world, this one is for you.

A generation of South Sudanese people are being criminalised for seeking safety and most people have no idea.

Share this. Talk about it. The more our community speaks about what is happening, the harder it becomes to ignore.

All credit to @de.criminalize for bringing these cases to light.

A fully funded master’s scholarship in Germany. South Sudanese applicants are eligible.

The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme covers tuition, a monthly stipend, health insurance, travel, and even a German language course before your studies begin.

This is a competitive scholarship, but it exists precisely for graduates like you. Above-average grades and a relevant field are required, so take the time to put together a strong application.

Applications are submitted directly to your chosen university, not to DAAD, and you can apply to a maximum of 2 courses.

Deadline: 31 July 2026.

Need help with your application? Email us. We are here to support South Sudanese students through every step.

As someone from this community, I know firsthand what it means to carry a dream when the world is not set up to support it. South Sudanese people are some of the most resilient and determined people I have ever known, and this story is proof of that. One young man, a refugee living in a camp in Ethiopia, applied to four of the world’s top universities, received four rejections, and refused to let that be the end of his story.

If you are a South Sudanese student or know someone who is, follow Nilöu Foundation. We share scholarship opportunities, guidance and stories like this one as they happen. When the next opportunity opens, you will be the first to know.

Swipe to read his story.

Simon is one of many South Sudanese newcomers I have had the privilege of supporting.

One year into his degree at the University of East London and already making moves. He recently assisted at a diabetes conference where he worked alongside Dr Patricia Smith and her team.

He reached out recently with an update and shared this.

“I wish to sincerely thank the Nilöu Foundation for the outstanding support and guidance throughout my journey to secure admission to this university. The kindness, encouragement, and honest advice were invaluable. Every step of the way, challenges were resolved and I was given confidence. Without this generous help and genuine commitment, reaching this stage would not have been possible.”

This is why we do this work.

If you know someone who needs this kind of support, please share this post.
