Flowers 🌺 Flora in contemporary Art and Culture Part 2 🌺 ROOM 2 IN FULL BLOOM 🌺 “Over the past 40 years, contemporary art, like many aspects of our culture, has become globalised and international. The dissemination of ideas and influence of different aesthetics has transcended national boundaries and flowed largely freely via the internet and contemporary media. Is it any surprise that artists from all corners of the world have at one point been stimulated by the flora around them and the symbolism that these plants have within their immediate society? Within this room, you will see works by a variety of artists, many of whom are internationally renowned, some of whom have elevated their stature to that of a phenomenon or a brand, and all of whom have been captivated by the possibilities in depicting flora. The techniques, media and scale may vary. The intentions and messages conveyed by the artists in their works are similarly disparate. However, what unifies them all is an admiration of nature and an energy seemingly drawn from nature itself. In Full Bloom is a selection of striking works that reveal the continuing importance of flowers to contemporary artists. For some artists, flowers are an escape from the challenges of the world around us, for others, flowers are a means to understand our place in that world.“
