I’m really humbled by the reaction to Puddles since we published it online last week. Thanks so much for all your kind words and messages. It’s incredible the number of people that have watched it given the small following and lack of subscribers I have…

If you still haven’t watched our bite-sized dark comedy about motherhood, parental judgement and unsolicited advice head to the link in my bio now.

SCENERY
Westness: A Journey to Orkney
A film by Brett Lloyd for Scenery Ltd

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of travelling up to Orkney and sailing off with Director Brett Lloyd and Editor in Chief Simon B Morch to a remote Orcadian Isle. We were there for the first visit and story in the home of Ben Pentreath and Charlie McCormick.

I carried up a modified Bolex from MCX films with some rolls of 250D and 500T 16mm 100ft stock, some S-16 UltraPrimes and a Canon Zoom the whole kit had a small propeller plane weight restriction of 6kg!
I could hardly add a Mattebox to my luggage or another pair of pants!

I was so grateful to Martin and John at MCX for getting me to grips with their Bolex and loading, safe to say it came out all beautifully exposed and focused correctly with some fascinating artifacts and the odd salty lens.

I remember loading and sipping whisky in the guest room at night with the wind howling through the coastal trees. The island was an unspoilt and solemn place like something out of a Conrad novel, it felt like being within a Ravillious painting at the turn of the century.

So lovely to spend time with Simon, Brett, Charlie, Ben, Nancy and all the other dogs, and I’m so grateful to Brett for trusting my slow film process on this one!
