🎗️ National Day of Service and Remembrance

👉 The Northfield Mount Hermon community marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 this morning at a simple but powerful remembrance, with bagpipe music by faculty member Steven Bathory-Peeler.

Campus flags are at half-staff today, and the Memorial Chapel bell tolled for five minutes starting at 8:46 am. Last evening, the History and Social Science Department hosted an informational and supportive conversation about 9/11 for students and faculty in Schauffler Library.

Four members of the NMH community lost their lives on 9/11:

🩵 Stephen Adams, Dining Services
🩵 Christoffer Carstanjen, Information Technology
🩵 Frank Doyle, Class of 1981
🩵 David Rivers, Class of 1979

💐 They are remembered with memorial plaque and sugar maple tree near Alumni Hall.

🎩 Steve Allison has worn many hats in his 27 years at NMH: coach of the mountain biking, outdoor, and Nordic skiing teams; faculty member in dorms on the Northfield and Mount Hermon campuses; and visual arts teacher.

🎨 He can now add “featured artist” to his resume.

👉 “Out of the Frame,” Allison’s first solo exhibit at NMH, kicks off the fall season in The Gallery in the Rhodes Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 11, with a formal reception at 6:30 pm. The show features 28 original pieces by the longtime community stalwart, reflecting Allison’s human approach to creativity and passion for process.
